Xbox Game Bar makes PC constantly lag whenever I try to record game footage

I really wanted to record gameplay of GTA 2, but unfortunately the Game Bar, even when setting the priority to High, makes the computer lag like crazy and makes it very slow. I honestly don't know what to do at this point. Can someone please help me fix
this annoying issue? All I wanted to do was to just record footage of a game from 1999.

I am using a small RCA laptop with about 4 or 5 gigs of free space left.

the laptop drive is most likely struggling, you have the system using the drive, the game using the drive and then your asking it to record, you will need to reduce the quality of the recording in settings and reduce resource use.

Even when all other apps are closed, it still lags my PC and I have to stop recording so the lag will stop.

as your using an rca laptop style device, it will most likely not be able to record properly as the machine cannot handle it.

How do I reduce resource use? Do I turn down the priority of the Game Bar?

I agree with Tezzarrific, it's likely its struggling with everything at once. If theres any programs running in the background that aren't essential, close them.
