    XBox Game Bar keeps disabling itself


    Hi,

    I am unable to use the game bar for at least a year now.

    I have tried enabling it in the control center, it keeps disabling itself when I come back to it, and when I try to save new shortcuts, the settings app crashes.

    I have tried also to force enabling it in the register, no luck there.

    I have done a clean installation of Windows, tried the insider builds, all my drivers are up to date...

    The day before yesterday, after an update, it just showed up on screen when opening my session, but then I was unable to invoke it again.

    XBox Game Bar keeps disabling itself

    1. Type in "registry editor" in windows search bar, right click and
    run as administrator.

    2. We are going to check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\ (copy and paste)

    Choose "GameDVR" from the right panel and change "AllowGameDVR" to 1.

    If there isn't one:

    Right click the empty area, choose "New" and then "Key"

    Name it to GameDVR. It makes a new key / "folder".

    Inside the GameDVR key, right click the empty area again, click "New" and choose "DWORD".

    Name it to "AllowGameDVR". Double click it and set it to 1.

    3. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore (copy and paste)
    Double click "GameDVR_Enabled" and change it to 1.

    4. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameDVR

    Double click on AppCaptureEnabled and set it to 1.

    This SHOULD solve your problem. I was having this problem for a while after every windows update and this seemed to fix it because "AllowGameDVR" was missing.

    Hi, i have the same problem. I tryed to force a repair and reset from the app config menu But nothing. The enable/disable button is still in disable for itself.

    i tryed to force the AppCaptureEnable registry in 1. Still the problema.

    Please help me. I don´t want to install a clean windows for this problema.!!

    I did try the clean install, it didn't help...

    I have switched to insider to see if it helped, no luck... until... it started working, magically.

    XBox Game Bar keeps disabling itself

    Sorry to hear it. Try finding the Xbox Game Bar app in the Start menu. Right click on it then select More. Choose Settings then delete and reinstall the Game Bar to see if that helps
