Xbox game bar isnt letting me record anymore

Based on your description, you are trying to record using Xbox Game Bar and your PC doesn't meet the system requirements to keep recording. Let us check on this together and sort this out in timely manner.

Let's check the available update for Windows system, Xbox app and gaming services that needs to be installed to continue using Xbox Game Bar. Maybe an update was needed or perhaps repair or reset. So, to make sure you can get back to recording your games, let us do some troubleshooting and we would like to ask for few details too.

1. May we ask for a screenshot of the issue? Please conceal any personal information.
   
2. When did this issue started? May we ask what changes happened before this issue started?
   
3. Since the apps like Xbox Game Bar, Microsoft Store and Xbox app are pre-installed apps and is available to your system. May we know if you have issues with Xbox app too?
   
4. Do you have antivirus, antimalware, VPN, firewall, proxy and PC Optimizer installed in your PC?

Suggested troubleshooting:

1. Install PC updates including Optional Update. Guide - Update Windows
   
   • If you have issues with update, please check the troubleshooting steps available here - Troubleshoot problems updating Windows.
     
2. Note: Please make sure you know your credentials before proceeding to the next steps. If in doubt, try to manually sign in here: Microsoft Account | Home.
   
   • Reset/Repair Microsoft Store, Xbox app and Xbox Game Bar. Guide - Repair apps and programs in Windows.
     
   • Clear the store cache by typing “wsreset” in the Windows search bar. Run this as admin and wait for the screen to close and open the store automatically.
     
   • Try reinstalling the Gaming Services package on your Windows 10 device:
     
     1. Right-click the Start button in the lower-left corner of the main screen, and then select Windows PowerShell (Admin).
        
     2. In the Administrator: Windows PowerShell screen, type the following command and press Enter:
        
        Get-AppxPackage *gamingservices* -allusers | remove-appxpackage -allusers
        
     3. Wait for the process to finish.
        
3. Restart and disable all antivirus, antimalware, VPN, proxy, firewall and PC Optimizer.
   
4. Sign into the Microsoft Store and please update all the Xbox apps by following this guide: Get updates for apps and games in Microsoft Store

All Windows 10 PCs should be able to capture screenshots in games, no matter what video card you have. To capture game clips, however, your PC’s video card must support one of these encoders:

Intel Quick Sync H.264

NVidia NVENC

AMD VCE

Open the Start menu, and select Settings > Gaming and make sure Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Xbox Game Bar is On. If Xbox Game Bar doesn't appear for a full-screen game, try keyboard shortcuts: Press the Windows logo key + Alt + R to start recording a clip, then press it again to stop. Give it a shot and let me know how it goes!

We understand that you are having trouble recording Game Bar overlay while recording with Game Bar itself. I'll be happy to assist you with this.



To record Game Bar overlay while recording with Game Bar itself, you need to enable the "Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar" option in the Game Bar settings. Here are the steps to do so:



1. Press the Windows key + G to open the Game Bar.

2. Click on the Settings icon (gear icon) on the Game Bar.

3. In the Game Bar settings, make sure that the "Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar" option is turned on.

4. Also, make sure that the "Record audio when I record a game" option is turned on if you want to record audio along with your gameplay.

5. Once you have enabled these settings, you can start recording your gameplay by pressing the Windows key + Alt + R.



Please note that not all games support Game Bar overlay recording. If you are having trouble recording Game Bar overlay while recording with Game Bar itself, it could be due to the game not supporting this feature. You can check the game's display settings to see if there are any options related to Game Bar overlay recording.
