Xbox Game Bar is BROKEN on High End Windows 11 PC, Detailed Diagnosis

I began with one issue, and now I have two. Game Bar is a broken, buggy mess, and now I've learned that there is genuinely no easy way to report any issues relating to Game Bar.

First of all, just finding this page was the most frustrating half hour of my life. I had an issue with Xbox Game Bar, so naturally, I navigated to, "Settings->Feedback->Game Bar Feedback", inside of Game Bar itself to report a bug. I click and click, but it's very clear that this is a dead link, it literally doesn't do anything.

So then I open the Microsoft Store and find the Game Bar app page there. I scroll down the page and click, "Game Bar Support". Surprise surprise, another dead link. It just opens Chrome at its start page. There's another link just below "Game Bar Support" called "Game Bar Website" and guess what? It just opens Microsoft's homepage. I don't know why, but it looks like ALL the pages related to Xbox Game Bar have been removed, if they ever existed to begin with...

Long story short, there is absolutely ZERO support for Game Bar, and I mean absolutely NOWHERE to report bugs for this cursed software. I went to support and had an unhelpful AI drone soulless responses at me. I tried contacting an actual customer rep to no avail, and even tried going through Xbox Support to get this bug reported. ALL DEAD ENDS. Option box after option box of common issues that I am NOT having, just LET ME TALK TO A PERSON ABOUT THIS, PLEASE! They will do everything in their power to push you off to an AI assistant or have you read baby's first, "How do I turn on my Xbox?" forum. Microsoft's Game Bar support is ABYSMAL, and that's an understatement.

Again, I had all these issues just trying to REPORT an issue, it's genuinely so aggravating. So here is the ORIGINAL issue I was having.

Game Bar periodically causes a "Grey Screen of Death" as I've started calling it. My screen goes completely grey, except for evenly spaced, one pixel thick, vertical blue lines, there are maybe 8-10 of them. When this happens, my computer is completely bricked. Mouse inputs are gone, keyboard inputs are gone. Not even a graphics driver refresh fixes it (Shift+Ctrl+Win+B). It seriously locks my whole system, and the only way to fix it is a hard system restart by holding down the power button on my PC.

    I've tried:

-Unplugging the display port cable from both my graphics card (Radeon RX 6700XT) and monitor

-Updating my monitor (Samsung Odyssey Neo G8)

    -Changing the display port cable

-Updating graphics and CPU drivers via AMD Software: Adrenaline Edition (current version 25.3.1)

-Updating Windows 11 to the latest version

-Repair and restart Xbox Game Bar (via system settings) then computer restart

-Complete Revo uninstall and wipe of Game Bar, then computer restart and Game Bar reinstallation

-Multiple system restarts via software (not holding down the power button)

After all this, I still get the grey screen of death. NOTHING helps. I'm convinced that this is a Game Bar software issue, and nothing I can do will fix it.

The frequency of grey screens varies, but I know Game Bar is the culprit. I've done extensive testing over the past few months to determine what EXACTLY was causing the grey screen, and it ONLY happens when I have Game Bar enabled and running. I will get a grey screen of death after the following:

    -Someone joins my Party Chat

    -Someone leaves my Party Chat

-A notification comes in from Game Bar

    -I receive a Party Invite

    -I open Game Bar

    -I open a game

There are also random grey screens. I'll be in the middle of playing something with friends and none of the above will occur, yet I will still get the grey screen. It is so unbelievably frustrating to be doing something important and have my PC completely lock up on me, forcing a restart. There was one single time that I just left the grey screen for 10-20 minutes while I left and did other stuff. When I came back, it had fixed itself. I've left it alone for up to half an hour since, and it has never fixed itself again.

Weirdly though, the audio still works, I can hear and talk to people in the Party Chat with me. Yippee. Now I can tell them that I'll be leaving the game and wont have it loaded back up for several minutes.

I HAVE to use Game Bar, because it enables core parking for my AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D CPU. As far as I'm aware, it's the only way to enable core parking when playing games in order to properly utilize the extra 3D V-Cache (uses 6 of the higher v-cache cores for gaming, and uses the other 6 for background activities). My system specs are as follows:

Xbox Game Bar broken on PC/Windows 11

UPDATE: They have since delivered an update and removed this problem as a known issue but it is still an issue. Nothing has changed and no work around fixes the problem. Just posting this so Microsoft knows the app is broken and there is no fix until they fix the app.

Xbox Game Bar broken on PC/Windows 11

I just noticed that this problem is under “known issues” for the current version so it’s being worked on.

But the workaround that is given to change the settings of “Let this app run in the background” to “always”, does not exist in my windows 11. As in, the “Background app permissions” section is not in the advanced options for installed apps. Any idea where this is located in current windows 11, or why it’s not there?

To answer your questions, it started with the most recent update to the Xbox app on 11/27/23. Everything was working before. And yes I’ve tried resetting and everything you suggested.
