    Xbox Game Bar Hang and Audio Glitch (Persistent Issues)


    Hello, when I open the Game Bar overlay on my PC and try to interact with the interface, I get a 10 second long freeze up. This happens whenever I first boot my PC, and when I wake from sleep, but it doesn't continue to be a problem during gaming with friends. I can alt+tab and my other apps are running fine but the overlay won't go away and won't react to anything. I've repaired and reset, and even uninstalled and reinstalled the all of the Xbox apps via the Microsoft store, but this issue has persisted for multiple versions now.

    The audio glitch is that when I join a party chat, my friends can hear me via my headset mic, but I can't hear them even though their avatar speaking ring highlights are showing up. I've discovered that this can be fixed by opening Settings, Party Chat, Audio Output, and changing my output to something else and then back to the headset again. It always says the correct output, but friend's speech doesn't work until I do this. All other app sounds work to my headphones even though this is always an issue with Xbox parties. Like the Game Bar freeze issue, it only happens when I boot up or wake from sleep, and use Game Bar to join parties and doesn't come back during my gaming sessions.

    I've submitted feedback for both of these issues multiple times and feel totally ignored, as I never hear back and the updates don't fix these persistent problems. Please help? Thanks for taking the time to read this.

    Both Windows and Xbox Game Bar were not at the latest version, so I updated them. In addition, I uninstalled Dell SupportAssist Remediation just in case, because it was causing CPU spikes.

    After that, I recorded videos for several hours and there is no problem with audio so far!

    Xbox Game Bar offers the highest quality of image, so I am glad that I can keep using it.

    I really appreciate your help.

    I'm sorry to hear about this issue, could you check to see if you have the latest Windows Update, or if Xbox Game Bar itself needs an update?

    Does your graphics card come with its own recording software too? If so, do you still get the same audio glitches when you use that to record gameplay?

    Been having the same problem for just as long. This is definitely some kind of Windows 11 and Xbox game bar issue. Audio is perfect in every other app but the game bar.
