Xbox Game Bar crashes after trying to make a publication for searching for a group.

Here is one solution but its not a permanent solution to this problem and you will have to do this every time the game is opened, with alt + tab go back to the desktop and then go to the task manager. Then look for the tab “Details”
and in the list below look for the process “GearGame.exe” and right click and select “Set priority” -> “Below normal”.

Finally just click on “change priority” in the box that appears later and go back to the game.

I believe the reason support has said contact the developer is because there has been a known ongoing crash issues with GoW4 on PC since last year, before the game bar became a thing.

I still don't believe its the game that's the issue. I've just tried what you suggest in 5 separate games of horde mode, 3 of which involved using the game bar playing with other people on the looking or group beta. all of those games I crashed ether at the
beginning or the midpoint. 2 of the games were just random public searches without using the looking for group or the Xbox game bar. both games I finished without any bugs, crashes or glitches.

I honestly believe its the Xbox game bar that's causing this, but thanks for trying.

I understand how frustrating it can be to not be able to play Sea of Thieves with other players. Here are some additional steps you can try to fix this issue.

Make sure your privacy settings in the Xbox Game Bar allow "Searching Group" to be posted. Go to the privacy settings in the Game Bar and make sure it is set to allow “Searching Group” posting.

Completely close the Xbox app on your PC and then restart it. Sometimes restarting the app can fix technical issues.

Make sure you have a stable and fast internet connection. Connectivity issues may make it difficult to publish "Looking for Group."

After testing further, the Xbox Game Bar is still crashing after trying to Join or Invite others to a party.

When you set up the FPS counter in Xbox Game Bar, your user account will be added to the Performance Log Users group (if your account is the administrator for the device or the administrator has added your account to the group). If you’re not seeing the FPS counter after restarting your PC (Request access button still appears in the FPS tab), verify that your account was added to the Performance Log Users group by typing Computer Management in the desktop search box, selecting Local Users and Groups > Groups > Performance Log Users. If you’re not seeing your account in the Members box, request access again from the FPS tab in the Game Bar Performance widget, then restart your PC.

If you’re still not seeing FPS info after retrying access, manually add your administrator account to the group by typing Computer Management in the desktop search box, selecting Local Users and Groups > Groups > Performance Log Users, pressing Add, then following the prompts. Restart your PC for the changes to take effect.
