I added a new hard drive to my system today, and ever since I get this popup:

Xbox Game bar can’t open because it is offline. The storage device might be missing or... [IMG]

I've tried everything I can think of to make it go away. I've uninstalled and re-installed everything Xbox related on my system (except for the Game Bar app itself, which has the Uninstall greyed-out.)

The Xbox (beta) app seems to run fine and I can install and play games through it, but I still get this popup.

    Any ideas?

    :)

    Hello Whooter,

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. We understand that the Xbox Game Bar is not detecting your storage devices. We suggest trying to re-install all of the Windows apps through PowerShell. Perform the steps mentioned below and see if it helps:

a: Press Windows key and search for PowerShell.

b: Then right click PowerShell and Run as admin.

c: Now type the following command and hit enter

    Get-AppxPackage *windowsstore* | Remove-AppxPackage

    Get-AppxPackage *xboxapp* | Remove-AppxPackage

After a restart, enter the following command (again in a PowerShell as admin):

    Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

This will help uninstall and reinstall the Xbox Game Bar as well as other Xbox related applications. Be sure to let us know the reuslts!

Xbox Game bar can’t open because it is offline. The storage device might be missing or disconnected.

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, neither of those options seemed to help.

However I did some Googling and actually found something that did:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...48aa-958d-41c4421389b4?rtAction=1509849541131

I didn't get to the same situation the same way, but following these steps got it so I could install Game Bar without any errors and the pop up seems to have gone away.

    Thanks for all your help!

Please can you try pressing the repair button on the app Start < Xbox Game Bar < More < App Settings < Repair

If that doesn't work check if there is an update Microsoft Store < Menu < Downloads and Updates < Get Updates

If that doesn't work try installing it again to your device: https://www.microsoft.com/p/xbox-game-bar/9nzkpstsnw4p

Can’t open because it is offline. The storage device might be missing or disconnected.

Thanks for sharing this information. First, see if Windows is updated:

Open Settings > Update and security > Windows Update > Check for updates. Install any optional update too.

Then, please reinstall the gaming services and reset the Microsoft store and the Xbox app. Please perform these steps with the Microsoft store and the Xbox app closed and make sure there are no games being downloaded or installed on both apps.

    - Go to start > Search for PowerShell > Right click > Run as administrator. Type the following command and press enter:

    get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

    - Press Windows + R and type in "regedit". Press enter.

    - Search for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services

    - Delete the folders "GamingServices", "GamingServices.net" (if they're still there).

    - Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Microsoft Store > Advanced Options > Repair, then Reset.

    - Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Xbox App > Advanced Options > Repair, then Reset.

    - Press Windows + R. Type TEMP and press enter. Delete all the files inside this folder. Repeat this step by typing %TEMP% and Prefetch. Delete everything on both folders too.

    - Press Windows + R. Type WSRESET and press enter.

    - Restart your computer. Run Powershell as administrator and run the following commands (one at a time):

    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

(this command can show you some errors, this is normal, just wait until it ends)

    start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

    - Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt. Also sign in on the Microsoft store with your Microsoft account.

    - Restart your computer one more time. Open the Xbox App and sign in with the same account as the Microsoft store.

    - Check your computer region/country and language and please make sure it is the same as your Microsoft account (https://account.microsoft.com/profile). Also check your time zone and date/time is correct.

See if the error persists and please let me know.
