Xbox Game Bar Activates Headset Hands free

• Current version and edition of Windows Installed? (Search for WINVER in Windows search to see this)
  
• Xbox app and Gaming services version?
  
  • Xbox app > select Profile picture > Settings > About.
    
• What troubleshooting steps have you done?
  
• Was this working before?
  
• Recent activity or changes made before the issue appeared?

Open Sound Settings and go to Sound Control Panel





Move to the communications tab the choose do nothing





In your case right click on the Headphones then click properties





Under Exclusive Mode

Uncheck both Boxes

• Allow Applications to take exclusive control of this device
  
• Gove exclusive mode applications priority
  

Click Apply then OK

That means your headset is muted. Try un-muting by pressing the home button on your Xbox controller, and selecting it in the hot bar that comes up on the left hand side.

There are some more convoluted setups as well, but they would work such as connecting the bluethooth headset to a Windows 10 PC and using the Game Bar or Xbox apps to connect to a Xbox party and chatting that way, still remaining wire free and utilizing
your existing bluetooth headsets.
