Xbox friend not working

I just started using Xbox on my pc and the first friend I add the entire thing decides to not work. My friend said she added me, despite nothing showing up for me. I subsequently added her, and nothing showed up for her either. I follow her, but it lists her as offline even when she isn't. She sees me as offline as well. Using the chat function doesn't work either. What should I do?

If you are on the Xbox app on PC and you have this issue, please try following the troubleshooting steps provided below:

Get updates for apps and games in Microsoft Store

Reset Xbox app from Settings.

Click Start and select Settings.
Choose System.
Choose Apps & features.
Find the Xbox app and select advanced options.
Click Reset. Restart your device so that the changes can take effect. Launch the Xbox app.

It seems friend notifications only work if your friends connect to xbox live on xbox one. They do not work if your friends sign in on xbox 360. This is disappointing. I dont receive notifications for xbox 360 friends and yes i have my preferences set to
all friends.

Yup be prepared to never have this fixed. Xbox has said since December 30 2014 " We are aware of the issue our team is working hard to resolve this. " *** they are. Either make a new gamertag, or abandon Microsoft.

Your friends are not gone. It is an error. They are working on it.

I have no friends on xbox.com but on my xbox.
