What a total joke that is!

 

My Xbox isn't frizen but it's stuck at the home screen and has the spinning wheels on both sides. I can move around but no programs will start or anything.

 

The spinning wheels can mean that the console is having issues connecting to Xbox Live.

Have you tried a full reboot of the console? Hold your finger on the power button on the console itself for about 10 seconds and the console will shut down. The light on the PSU will turn orange. Then power it back up and see if that cures the issues.

In your case Clayton, it might be worth rebooting your modem/router too.

 

It's related to instant on mode, it's been happening to a lot of people since the last update, there are several threads on it, all of which MS seem to be ignoring.

I've ruled out connection to Live being an issue, rebooted my modem etc..., it still happens when the console isn't even connected to the net. Only a hard reset will get around it. If it was just an occasional thing it wouldn't be so bad, but this and variations
of it, not loading any games/apps, not signing in happen on a daily basis since the last update. Either live with it or switch of Instant On and lose the benefits, until MS actually decide to acknowledge the problem and hopefully fix whatever the last update
broke.

 

happens to me as well. Have to power cycle almost every 3 days.

 

Happens to me too. Every time i start the console it is frozen and I have to turn it off and make a hard reset. I was supposing the reason is the last update. Shouldn`t we expect an update in February?

 

If you are thinking of power cycling, you may want to go through the normal shutdown procedure (restart or power off through normal dashboard commands) instead of just shutting it off with the button, unless it is frozen and not possible. If the OS is anything
like Windows, it is best if it has a chance to unload programs and apps and save information before restarting. With the hard reset it is not doing this. If you hard reset Windows too often it sometimes gets to a point where you have to recover or repair it
for it to function correctly.
