Xbox Fortnite not recognising my subscription

I have a fully paid up Xbox Gold subscription and when I try and load fortnite for my son it is not recognised. I have tried the full power cycle and removing and reinstalling my son's profile but it is still not working/ recognising him. If I login with my username I can and fortnite will recognise that I have a subscription but that isn't helpful as my son has progressed a long way in the game and bought a lot of skins etc on his profile. Epic games do not seem to think it is a problem with them. Any help much appreciated. It is EXTREMELY frustrating that there is no way of speaking to a real human being at Microsoft!

PS - why is it not possible to speak with someone at Microsoft - it is extremely frustrating that there is no support

Make sure you have the console set as your Home in order to share the subscription with your son. https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/console/my-home-xbox

Took a different approach this morning doing 2 things, not sure which one worked tho...

1. changed the payment method on my xbox live gold subscription

2. signed up for 14 day free trial of xbox game pass.

looks like the change to subscription caused Fortnight to re-check and download the subscription details.

Same here, didn't work for me either.

I have a paid up 3 Live Gold subscription, but it keeps asking me to purchase another one.

Any other ideas?

I have also tried unlinking my EA account and re linking it, no dice.
