XBOX forced update interrupting a game...

Was just in the middle of a World of Tanks match and the xbox jerked me out of the game and forced me to choose between updating or going offline.

This is HORRIBLE customer service. Clearly they understand that they are screwing peoples'achievements, in game rewards based on stats, etc.

You would think they'd find a better way. Even my computer gives me a warning screen and a time limit when it needs to update. It's not like Microsoft can't figure out how to do that. Looks like Microsoft just doesn't care. Just one more thing pushing
me closer to buying a PS4.

You were given all the proper information as to what happens. The decision to make the system updates mandatory and lack of notifications is a decision made by Microsoft's team of Xbox Live engineers. Unfortunately, they don't have a presence in the forums
so no one on the forums can provide the answer you are looking for in regards to the reasoning behind their decisions. For the notifications, I agree as do others there should be some notification feature for system updates and you have already posted the
Idea for it. As for the game played, I'm pretty sure it saved at points so you will just have to start from the last save. As this post has been answered I will be locking this thread.

Thanks for the reply. But, if it came out on the 12th, why didn't I get a notification? It had DAYS to let me know it needed to update. Point is, there was ZERO warning. It just decided to ruin my game and that is absolutely unnecessary. Pathetic,
really.

Auto updates are off. Even if they weren't, it shouldn't pull you out of an ongoing game. That's ridiculous.

With console updates they usually don't have a notification. As most gamers know there is a console update every month. When the update rolls out there is a time frame for the console to be installed by the customers. If the update is not installed during
that time then it will initiate the auto update. As the consoles all need to be on what the server is on. Sorry this caused an issue with your game. Games have done the same thing also, when there has been an a hotfix for a huge bug or glitch.

Hello Razor,

You may want to consider turning on the auto update feature and the instant on feature. That way your console can update while its in sleep mode. If this is not something you'd like as a solution, you can try updating the console as the updates roll out.
This most recent update rolled out on the 12th of February, although it isn't mandatory right away. Without Auto updates on, the system will force the update on you once it becomes mandatory. News on updates can be found on
