xbox force changed my gt and are charging me to pick something else

hi all,

just need to know if im the only one this happened to,

my gt was supposidly offensive so xbox changed it for me. now i can understand that this may be the case, but surely i shouldnt have to be forced to pay to change it, if its changed ( my xboshouldnt i get the chance to pick a different one and not have to
pay microsoft more money than i already do to change it. this has to be breaking some kind of law or something. it is extremly unfair to let me use a gt for 2 years and then say its offensive and now i have to pay to change it from the one they gave me ""
which anyone in their right mind would want to change. I was always an avid xbox supporter but this just tips it for me. i raised a case on it and their decision stood and i can either pay to change the name or stick with this one. well i for one will not
be doing either i will be selling my xbox and buying a ps4 as this is just disgusting how xbox treat their loyal customers, the customer service have an attitude of we are xbox we dont need your business and its wrong this is obviously why sony are winning
the console war and destroying xbox sales. bye xbox ... nice doing business with you (not)

Gamertag change

my gamertag was force changed overnight without me knowing and is now charging me to change it again my gamertag if pronounced wrong would sound like a swear word bit was actually the name of an anime character .

Ok Microsoft you force me to take a randomly generated name without notifying me that you changed my name that you ALLOWED me to have for nearly 5 years now and then try charging me to change it? That's messed up

 

Well just so you know Sony also have the same policy of not allowing offence gamertags, of course the big difference between Sony and MS is that you cannot change your gametag once you make it on the PSN, so any offence gamertag would mean a complete accout
ban from their online services, just so you know before hand.

But i think next time making a inoffensive gamertag in the first place might be the best idea.

 

yes i completly understand them changing the gamertag what i dont understand is them not letting me choose what it is!! so they change it to a random one which as the previous post suggests nobody will keep that name hence forcing me to pay €10 to change
it, might be a good business strategy but for the consumer its just another dig at our pockets. i cannot justify paying €10 for absolutly nothing, just forced to do so my microsoft. i would rather pay 100 with my xbox to get a ps4 than pay the €10 to change
my name to something non offensive as you say.

 

Well they allow you to choose your gamertag when you first made your account, so really might not have been a good idea to go down the route of making one that was breaking the T&C of the service.

But as they say, you live and learn.

 

It's in the ToU/CoC you agreed to when you started your account.

In the past if you had a forced name change you used to be able to create a new one for free but that was abused & people were creating just as offensive new gamertags so the policy was changed about 4 or 5 years ago so now you are given a free name,if you
want to change it you have to pay.

You can blame the people who abused the free name change for there being a fee now.

Doesn't matter how long you had the tag,it has only now just been reported,invesigated & found to violate the ToU/CoC.

 

So you would rather pay £100, plus your Xbox One and all your games (digital and physical copies) just to get a PS4 with no games?

Don't let the door hit you on the wait out.

 

Just be happy you did not get a ban and next time try not to use an offensive GT...
