    Xbox for Windows 10, Xbox online or Xbox One?


    This may not be the best place to ask my question, but Xbox on Windows 10 is our starting point. I am an experienced Windows PC user, but use it as a tool rather than a toy, so this is alien territory for me.

    We aren't gamers in our family, beyond occasionally playing Free Cell and Mahjong, but with increasing pressure from the 10 year old to get Minecraft (because all his friends have it) and an Xbox (because all his friends have them), I have some questions.

    Firstly, I will be getting Minecraft for him for Christmas. He won't be getting an XBox One for the foreseeable future. Question is, do I get it for Windows 10 or do I look to the future, and get the Xbox One version and hope that he can play it on the
    computer for the time being until we can afford to buy an XBox?

    To summarise

    1. Can we play XBox versions of games online on any PC with an Xbox Live Gold membership?

    2. Could a Windows 10 version of Minecraft be played on an Xbox one, or would our son have to start all over again?

    3. Could an XBox One version of Minecraft be played on Windows 10, or indeed online on any PC?

    I'm thinking he is referring to Xbox Live Gold. If that's the case, they've confirmed that you will not need to pay for Xbox Live Gold to access online modes/games for Windows 10.

    There is no “privacy & online safety” tab only “family & online safety” and when you click on that you still don’t get an option of a xbox One/windows 10 online safety tab, and I dont see how such a tab would even be useful considering this issue is on
    neither an xbox one or windows 10 device, its on an ipad
