    Xbox for PC - Games languages forced - why?


    Hello,

    as many other people I do not appreciate localization of games, and I much prefer the original dubs. I played Oblivion Remastered on Gamepass and I was able to switch to English - great success. I tried installing Doom: The Dark Ages and Expedition 33 and they both are tied (for some reason?) to the system language. I am using Italian as it makes it easier to redact documents in Word and I don-t need to fiddle with that, but if I can't fiddle with games (which are a much lower prio) I'm just going to not use GamePass and Xbox at all.

    Why not simply add like in Steam or any other platform the ability to choose the installation language for the game?

    Can this be "fixed" - as I really do not believe there is need for a fix you know, just adding a drop-down menu

    But why can't I choose Finland and set the language to English? Why am I forced to have the console in finnish?

    I just bought an xbox one in Hong Kong. If Microsoft doesn't give me a logical explanation as to why I can't change MY PERSONAL LANGUAGE to the language I actually speak, I am taking back my newly purchased xbox one, and buying a PS4.

    Ps4 has not forced foreign languages on their users. WHY WOULD THEY? WHY HAS MICROSOFT DONE THIS?

    Please Microsoft, let me know if I should change my system or not.

    Horrible translations.

    Generally's the same here in Italy, though certain games like the AC series suffer a little less and get decent translation/dubbing.

    Anyway I stick with the original language if possible, that's why I hate when they remove the original language track in games like Mass Effect or Fable, and force us to ask for a DLC of those tracks...

    Language change

    Hey,

    On Xbox it's as simple as setting your Xbox's language on the language you want and it'd download some files to change it to said language. I assume it's the same on PC and thus give changing the display language a try.

    Also some games have the option to change the language and subtitles in-game in the options menu, I suggest going through those first before changing the language of your PC.

    Usually the language used by the games is forced with the one used on the console. Try checking the settings in "Language & location".
