Xbox flickering Green Dots and unacceptable customer support.

I've had quite the journey during the launch of this console....

I received my console last Tuesday a week after launch, a little bit late but whatever it arrived. Unfortunately a couple hours after running the console it crashed and started displaying the green dots displayed in the video. I tried swapping HDMI cables, switching to a different TV, running a factory reset, but nothing would resolve the issue. It seems that the GPU is faulty from what I can tell.

Super disappointing, but nothing compared to what followed after.

First thing I did was check Amazon to see if I could get a replacement. Of course they are out of stock so the only option they gave is to request a refund. So I decided to contact Microsoft support for repair/exchange based on the warranty.

Contacting Xbox Support starts with submitting a form online to request a call. The form estimated a 90 minute waiting period... this turned into a 3 hour waiting period where I received an automated call telling me that the queue is full and my request had been canceled and to try again tomorrow.

Day 2 - Next morning, I requested a call again. Luckily, I was able to get in touch with an agent a few minutes later. The agent listened to my issues and set up a service repair. After getting off the phone I checked my email for confirmation. The agent had entered my shipping address completely wrong for the return address on the label. I went online to request another call with an estimated wait time of 90 minutes. 3 hours later I get a call. The agent puts me on hold and 15 minutes later comes back and tells me he's working on it. 15 minutes later I'm hung up on with no call back. I make another attempt to request a call and later that evening get the automated message that the queue is full and my request has been canceled and to try again tomorrow.

Day 3 - Requested a call early in the morning and had an agent reach out within minutes. I vented my frustrations and he sadly informed me that he couldn't help because the hardware team didn't come in until later. I'm not sure why the hardware team is needed to update an address. I make another request later that day and receive a call from another agent a few hours later. He said in order to fix the address I would need to cancel the request, wait 24 hours and call back to make another request. I asked to speak with a manager and he said that he would submit a request and it could take up to 24-72 hours to get a response.

Day 4 - Got on the line with another agent and was told my request wasn't cancelled the day before so we would have to resubmit it and try again in 24 hours.

I'll likely just return to Amazon to get my money back and end this nightmare. Unfortunately, unless I get lucky this means I won't get a series X for quite some time.

To be honest, I'm not that upset about the Xbox not working. This is expected to happen with such a big launch. But this customer experience has been horrendous and has sadly soured my excitement for this current generation of consoles
