Xbox Fitness does not recognize Xbox Live Gold.

Just purchased Xbox LIVE Gold and can't play Xbox Fitness.

I can confirm Xbox LIVE Gold by going to Settings > Subscriptions where it says Prepaid 12M Xbox LIVE Gold Expires 6/4/2015

However, when I open Xbox Fitness app it does not recognize that I have Xbox LIVE Gold and will not let me participate in those workouts.

Even the page that says Get Xbox Live goes does nothing. This is very frustrating and makes me not trust my Xbox One. Why would I pay for these extra services if I can't reliably use them. Please Fix this ASAP!

I read other forum posts suggesting power off and power on. This did not solve the problem. (Also, it seems ridiculous that people are recommending a power cycle as standard procedure to fix an Xbox One, a new console on a relatively new operating system)

Considering the future user base of Xbox One, Xbox Fitness literally has the potential to help increase activity in the youth of America and decrease obesity and health problems. For something that could be so helpful it's a shame to see it go to waste
for trivial issues.

 

I got this error yesterday for the first time since launch. It was a bit annoying but just going back to the desktop, quitting the Fitness app and restarting seemed to clear it up and I was fine after that.

 

OK, I've got this issue too. The free workout works, but any workout requiring Xbox Gold Live does not. I've restarted the app and cycled power, but still having the problem. Will try uninstalling/reinstalling the app this weekend. Frustrating!!!

 

Several of the forum posts recommended doing a full reboot by keeping the power button held for 10 secs or even unplugging the unit. I tried this and it worked for me.

Now onto the next issue...

 

I had the same issue. I quit the app and powered off and on like everyone else and then it co-operated. Great app, I didn't expect much from it, but I now use it everyday!

 

Why would we need to power off and on for the app to recognize subscription status? This looks like a bug and the workaround is painful so I would count severity as if there was no workaround.

 

@KrazyK4tLady, agree its totally stupid and Microsoft needs to fix it ASAP. This is EXTREMELY frustrating! And impacts customs PAYING for PREMIUM XBOX GOLD service! WTF!

There is a workaround for me, powering off and doing a full reboot works for me but it takes like 5 minutes to do! Really, REALLY annoying. FIX THIS MICROSOFT!
