    Xbox Family Setup Questions


    My son got an Xbox for Christmas. I setup the account as i have a MS account. My son doesn't have email.
    This account has all my payment info in it.

    I went to setup family account but it wants another adult account with email. WHY?
    how many email accounts do i need to setup 1 account. I can't use the main email its already in use.

    I don't want me son to accidently buy games or his friends.
    I don't mind him using my account but I would like it to only have a password on purchases and account changes. But it seems once I turn this security on it is required to even play the system.

    The sign in screen was misleading as it says sign in an adult account.
    I realized this after creating multiple accounts

    You should need another adult account. Just yours and one for your child.

    Each person should have their own account. You can then add them to your family so you can add family settings to their accounts. Since accounts are online, they need to have an email address attached.

    Even though you don't mind your son using your account, it can cause issues in the future. As he gets older you would still be considered the owner of the account and wouldn't be able to switch that to him. You'll also want to create a new account for him so you can put child settings on it to keep him from accidentally doing things you don't want him to. You wouldn't be able to on your account since it's an adult account.

    And yes I searched the archive. Actually I'm re-using an exact subject from one thread. But everyone responding there was just providing links to how to setup a family group. Or a link to a page explaining "parental consent". None of these things answer my question which is what is the proper way to setup Xbox Ultimate Game Pass for a family. At at least just one child at a minimum.
