    xbox family group privacy setting change not applying


    i have a xbox family group and i used the parent account to change the child account privacy settings so the chil account can join mulitplayer games, the child account didnt have the settings updated but the parent account shows that its already changed. I tried logging in and out in both accounts, resetting cache and cookies, and i waited for a day to see if there's any changes.

    Unfortunately, child accounts cannot change their Xbox profile privacy settings. Doesn't matter if they are on a family group or not.

    If you need to change your privacy settings, you will need to ask a parent to create a family group, invite you to the group as a member and change your privacy settings for you (if you are not on a family group).

    You can check if you are on a family group by going to https://family.microsoft.com and see if it shows only your account or other accounts too.

    But are you sure you cannot play online because or your privacy settings? Would you please share a screenshot of the message you receive when trying to play online?

    Did you try to sign in to https://account.microsoft.com/family/ ?

    Can you send me a screenshot of your account on the webpage above showing that you're not on a Family Group?

    Because if you're not on a Family Group, you should be able to change your privacy settings and shouldn't receive the "why can’t I change my privacy settings?" message.
