Xbox fallout 76 CD case blurb states single player, but won't play without xbox live gold subscription!

Fallout 76 is not a single player game, sorry for the confusion.

Fallout 76 requires online subscription and xbox live. It has no single player campaign it is always online

 

You can play single player / solo . In an online only world.

Xbox Live Gold Membership is required to play this game as stated clearly on the front of the box

76 is essentially an MMO so it does require Gold as stated on the box due to being in an online world. You as the player can choose to interact with others or play alone.

your original post. There is single player capabilities however, this is still while playing the game online. The game must be played online, this is the intention. It is stated on the box as well, you can see a picture of the box on your original post.
