    Xbox External Drive Installation Stopped issue


    I just bought an external drive and for the most part its great.

    I am encountering an issue where if I turn my Xbox off while anything I'd downloading to the external the installation stops. The next time I load up my Xbox one I get several back to back "installation stopped" notifications and I have to restart the process.

    I have my Xbox in quick start mode and it downloads to the internal drive just fine. Does the Xbox One not support downloads to the external while it is in sleep?

    2tb external hard drive

    When i try to move or download a game into the external hard drive it automatically says installation stopped. Any help?

    When's the last time you performed a reset to factory defaults while keeping your games and apps installed on your console?

    If the troubleshooting on the "game installation process stops" link proved to not help the situation. It couldn't hurt to try a

    factory reset on the console    .

    If you're using an external hard drive. You could also try moving the game to the external hard drive, or vice versa to the internal hard drive.

    I hope that you can get the issue resolved. Definately not fun to be unable to play your games due to an installation stopped issue.

    What setting is your HDD is it set to switch off when you turn your console off,

    In power settings, you need to then untick the box that puts to sleep your HDD when you turn the console off.

    You'll find this in Settings>Power&Startup, underneath where you select Instant On.

    Ah thanks!! I didn't see that extra option.

    Have you guys noticed if things download slower to an external?

    I think they download/install faster I am on the preview program some guys did some tests and found most were quicker at loading up a game as well.

    Yeah it was probably just because of the option I had selected to turn the drive off messing with my downloads.

    None of the above solve the issue. Games currently Installed on the external drive work. Unless they need an update. They can not be updated. New games can not be installed to external drives in the xpack enclosure. Apps seem install with no issue. Games
    can not be migrated to or from the external drive as well. Apps migrate with no issue. The issue seems to be related to the xpack external enclosure. It seems to have stopped working after the Feb update. Prior to this games installed updated and transfered
    with no issues using the xpack enclosure.
