    Xbox external drive contents deleted -


    Wondering whether anyone can give me some guidance - my son has an external 1tb drive connected to his Xbox (its a certified drive) and has been working 100% for the past 16 months.

    He stores many of his games on the drive etc and was gaming last night, turned the Xbox on this morning and there is nothing on the drive.

    The drive is still being recognised and showing free space of nearly 1Tb however its like a new drive and everything has gone?

    Any ideas as I am a little lost as to a: why this has happened b: how to get everything back.

    You are using transfer, which is to move the contents of your internal hard drive to the external hard drive instead of copying, you do not need to manually delete the contents of the internal hard drive (because they are already on the external hard drive).

    Try unplugging drive leave for one minute then plug back in drives do break eventually hope it wasnt dropped reboot then see if it shows games up.

    Backtracking your previous day's activities, can you or your son think of anything unusual or out of the ordinary that occurred during the last game session before your hard drive started acting up?

    Did the game crash or reboot or a power surge or anything happen?
