    Xbox Enforcement Policy Regarding 24 Hour Suspensions


    I know this particular topic has a lot of salt behind it but I'm going to be as civil and general as possible and try not to get into the specifics of my situation. If asked I will give more details.

    Why is it that one can not file for a case review or suspension removal if a suspension is only for 24 hours or less? I get that its only 24 or less hours and that isn't necessarily a big deal but personally it feels a little...unfair I guess?

    I know that it's probably not worth the company's time or money to look into small cases like these. However, if you received a suspension that you feel like you wouldn't have received if someone just looked at the case a
    little harder why is there nothing you can do about it? Like, say an employee has to meet a certain quota of case evaluations per day and just decides to slam a bunch of cases with 24 suspensions rather than take the time to look them over in context
    and make a serious judgement? How do you fight that? Kind of like if a judge took a glance at a case and rather than waste his/ her time really looking at it, they just fined you $200 or sentenced you to 2 days of community service. Not a big deal but feels
    like a undeserved slap in the face.

    Again, I know this isn't a huge deal and I don't really expect this to get addressed before my suspension lifts but I can't help but want to reach out and ask
    "Why?"

    First I wanted to thank you for this level headed question. Suspensions and
    Xbox's Community Standards or Code of Conduct
    can, at times, lead one to an emotional vs a logical response.

    My personal, again IMHO, the 24 hour suspension - just or unjustly received - is a slap on the wrist that I believe most Gamer's will respect once it is received. Its a minor wake up call and a way to stack in-case the user has some issues abiding by the
    Community Standards.

    Unfortunately, I believe an appeal on this level would probably overwhelm the system. In

    January of 2018 there were 59 million active users on Xbox Live
    , so...

    It can be challenging to play with sound with gamers we don't know. I've scaled the way I play back to friends in Parties or no Mic now. Kind of unfortunate as I feel I've lost a lot of strategy and connections in FPS platform games, but it is less complicated.

    Unless it's a violation to report someone even after you've received an apology from them, its probably not worth it for me to do so. It would just be petty. I did
    technically violate the code of conduct after all.

    Anyways, glad to hear that the people in charge of the system are doing their best to be impartial and consistent.

    They just look at what has been reported. If you feel that the other party violated the code of conduct, it is up to you to report it

    At the risk of getting a little personal: What do they look at when someone reports a message over Xbox Live?

    Do they look at the entire conversation or just the one message? Just the messages immediately before the reported message or maybe one or two messages before and after?

    I thinks that's likely due to once issued it's possible the team wouldnt even get around to looking at the appeal within the 24 hour period the ban is in force. Depending how busy the team is at the time. But that is a guess.
    That's basically it. It typically takes about 72 hours for them to review the situation and give a response. So by that time the suspension is already over.
