Interesting how all of a sudden this controller is not available yet... Did Microsoft grow a conscience? Doubt it, most likely production or delivery issues. But lets wait and see, maybe there's hope for them yet, maybe they might actually start caring
    about their members. Probably not...

LopsidedBoss71: Read the entire posting from beginning to end, you may gain some understanding. Your rant above is not even worth commenting on it is so absurd.

I was going to buy one of these, but after my experience today, I absolutely refuse. Its launch day and they aren't available in stores anywhere. I started looking/calling at 8AM this morning. I called my local Microsoft store, somehow I reached someone
in a call center, despite having called a local number, and she informed me that she just spoke to the local store and that they had them in stock but specified that it was limited quantity and first come first serve. I was in the parking lot when I called.
1 person in the store. I walked into the store and was told that they have them, but they are reserved. Really?? What happened to first come first serve, and why was I lied to?

Exlon8: Lied to several time apparently, they don't have them no one does, they're not being held for pre-orders. If that were the case you would find limited quantity available some where, but they are no where to be seen.

Do a nation wide search on BestBuy, not one store has them in the entire country, same with Walmart, Amazon and GameStop, all the places you could pre-order and not one available, that doesn't happen even with a new console release . Apparently one thing
Microsoft & Xbox Live do very well is train their monkey's to blatantly lie to their customer base and not give a crap about their members.

I don't understand the sudden outrage of the controller not being available on launch day. It was available for pre-order for some time. I saw they were becoming unavailable at GameStop and Walmart late last week so when I saw I was still able to place
a pre-order online at Best Buy, I did. I received it the day after launch.

Its not unavailable because they are disrespecting their community: its unavailable because the demand is much greater than the current supply. I would venture a guess that Microsoft produced a smaller number of them expecting that only a small number of
pro level and hard core gamers would purchase it, but the product resonated with a larger number of non-pro level players who saw value in it.

Also, remember that just because you buy pro-level gear does not make you a pro. Buying a $1,000 camera does not make you a professional photographer and buying this controller does not make you a professional gamer.

Will this controller in the hands of a pro gamer give them an advantage? I'd be willing to say yes, because people of that skill can use any edge in a game to get an advantage.

Will this make me a better gamer and give me an advantage? From the short time I've had with it I will say no. Its made using the controller easier and more comfortable and its allowed me to not need to use the stick click (which I despise), but I do not
see it improving my skill level.

Also remember that the original controllers are also getting button remapping soon (if they haven't already). Really all you're missing is the paddles, swappable stick heights, trigger locks, and the stick sensitivity adjustment.

First; I really doubt you've got one. Second; anytime you improve response time which this controller does with button mapping and paddles, as well as not having to take your thumbs off the sticks, that gives you a large advantage over players who don't
have one. ms = a large advantage in gaming, Pro or not. The fact that you don't acknowledge this and are trying to dissuade tells me you don't have one. Lastly, mentioning that the original controllers might be getting button mapping as a point of argument,
tells me you are probably a Microsoft employee. Original controllers with button mapping is useless without paddles, the combination is what makes the real difference. Pose your lies elsewhere, where you aren't speaking with someone who can see right through
    you.

Oh and your comparison of a pro photographer and a gamer only supports my entire argument regarding this controller. While purchasing a pro camera wont make you a pro photographer, it most certainly improves your abilities with all the auto modes now available.
Same with this controller, it improves anyone who uses it, doesn't put them all on the same level, just improves your individual abilities, kinda like steroids. Thus unless available as the standard controller, it is cheating...

I've read this thread with some interest and I would like to remind all that some people with disabilities can and will make use of this controller just to get themselves on a level playing field with the average gamer. I suffer from a 68% partial disability
in my hand which prevents me from using the standard bumpers since I cannot spread my fingers and in order to reach the bumpers I have to completely reposition my hand to activate the bumper. From my standpoint a non-disabled individual using a srtandard controller
is "cheating" since he has a definite advantage over me. I've pre-ordered one of these from amazon (before their GREEDY price increase to $250-300) in the hopes that the bumpers can be remapped to the paddles and I can finally activate them without a hand
reposition. I am glad to see Microsoft offer something that can make gaming more accessable to the disabled and encourage them to do more!

OldGuy4440; I support your stance on this 100% This type of controller should be made available only to those who are disabled in a manner that keeps them for using a standard controller effectively.

  11. I would not recommend buying this controller to all owners and future or even potential buyers this controller still has thumb stick drifting. I bought this controller on launch day and now as I write this the left thumb stick is drifting with out contact.
For a controller that is $150 the quality may feel nice but don't be fooled they still use the same thumb stick modules. Here is a article if you don't believe me. www.reddit.com/.../xbox_elite_controller_and_thumbstick_drift_it

I bought mine last month and I was against it especially with the price. I was lucky since there was a shortage of these. Best Buy had 3 of them and I bought them all. I sold the other 2 on ebay for more then what I paid for them and sold my old controller.
So after everything it was free. Don't know how old you are, but if you remember the late 90's early 2000's the Microsoft Sidewinder for the PC was $150-$200.
