Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 Firmware Update Stuck (PC)

Hey, I bought my Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 yesterday, and tried to update the controller with the Xbox Accessories App (to use the customization features).

But the update progress is stuck at 0% displaying "Applying Updates" for more than 3 hours. I already checked for windows updates, resetted and reinstalled the xbox accessories app, restarted the computer, tried different usb ports, and so on. Any other ideas how I can update the controller? I only found other posts like this without any solution in the internet.

To configure the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, get the Windows 10 May 2019 Update (or later) and make sure your PC has the latest fixes.

The Xbox Accessories app won’t detect your controller if you’re using Bluetooth to connect to your PC. Connect your controller using Xbox Wireless, or plug the included USB-C cable into the back of the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and plug the

No. I would assume that the Xbox app on our Samsung TVs might need an update.

Or, we need an firmware update for our Elite Series 2 Xbox controllers, which can only be done using an actual Xbox hardware or a Windows PC. I have neither.

My current workaround is using the “cheap” standard Xbox wireless controller I had already.

I got the Elite Series 2 controller for free, as it was part of a marketing campaign, buying that particular Samsung TV series, you receive an Xbox controller for free and a Game Pass. However, that Xbox controller doesn’t pair with the Xbox app. (It pairs with the TV only.)

It would be great if anyone who knows Xbox 2nd level support contact details forwarding this thread, so that MS can look into that and update the Xbox app for Samsung smart TVs. Or I go in a shop and ask if they can check if the Elite controller has the latest firmware installed.

Hey Christopher, thank you for your help. I tried uninstalling and installing the app already, and tried it now again. Unfortunally it doesn't helped :-/

Hey, I had a call with the support. They told me that this sometimes happens and that I should try to update the controller with the computer of a family member, or friend, this took some days to give it a try. But it worked like a charm, the update started instantly, and was done in less than two minutes.

Really strange... but after the update I was able to connect the controller to my computer and at least the check for new updates was successful.
