XBOX Elite Series 1 Power Button Issue

Hello I would like assistance with trying to see if this a driver issue or hardware issue.

when I try to turn the controller on with the XBOX button, it DOES NOTHING but, when it

is plugged into a regular USB it works perfectly normal, and even able to use the same XBOX button to turn it off even after unplugging it.

Once the controller goes off it is unable to be turned back on without plugging it into a USB. ONCE AGAIN It functions perfectly normal for game play, I just cannot get it to power on without initially being plugged in. This does not seem like a common issue
so I would like to know if there may be a driver/firmware issue?

Please I have changed the batteries tried different mini usb cords I am NOT using a rechargeable battery or batteries.

it just seems a bit odd that this would happen out of the blue.

Is there a way to Re-install the firmware just in case it may be corrupted?

Steps taken:

1. Changed Batteries

2. Checked for Firmware update Currently (2.3.2.2388.0) No other Update Available

3. Checked a myriad of forums in regards to the power button NOT turning on the system but able to turn off the controller.

Sounds like a hardware problem, right? Something has worn out in the controller, maybe a connection between the power button and the batteries. How old/what type of controller is it?

Sorry, I thought I put what type of controller it was.

It is an Elite series 1

its 1 year old.

it would seem like a software issue because the button works to TURN OFF the controller but does not TURN ON.

if the button did not function at all, it would have been more in correlation that it is a hardware issue.

so it seems like its an issue with the command to turn on once pressed.

As stated, the controller powers on and functions normally when initially connected to mini USB but, it does not when the XBOX button is initially pressed. The XBOX button does indeed work once powered on.

Thats why I am hoping someone knows a way to rollback the driver to troubleshoot it being a software issue rather assuming it is a hardware issue prior to that.

Hardware is to me the worst case scenario, because it would mean now having to find out what hardware is damaged and replacing that part or get a new controller. Getting a new controller is the costly and easy way out of trouble shooting.

i have the standard issue for xbox one x an elite series 1 and an elite series 2 and i can honestly say the elite series are worth the money

Had an Xbox Elite 1 for many years (but dead now...), don't own an Series 2 but never really see what reals benefits i have personnaly to find with the Series 2. Only things i want was "screenshot" dedicated button (on main Series X controller) or "Rapid
Fire" button (not on Elite series)... so .

i so wanted to get one of these as an upgrade to my elite series 1, but thats still going strong and with all of these issues i read about then i am loathe to get one and may wait for a series 3 to be made for the series x with the extra button etc......
