Xbox Elite Controller to Windows 10 PC

As the Subject says. My XOne elite controller doesn't connect to my PC anymore since I upgraded to Windows 10. I would rather use a usb cable to connect to it. The device manager doesn't show it either. I plugged in my controller to my PC and the controller
vibrates but nothing happens after that.

I really wanted this to be an easy fix with chat support or a phone call. Plus, I'd really rather not make a forum post about this. It doesn't seem very personable.

Gears of war 4 is coming, and now.. So am I.

I would like to buy the gears of war 4 elite controller, but I no longer have an Xbox one. I am however building a gaming PC, and wanted to know if I could use the elite Xbox one controller on gears of war 4 for Windows 10 on PC. More specifically I wanted
to know if it's plug and play for PC. Thanks in advance.

Interesting. I have Windows 10 running on a Boot Camp partition on my Macbook Pro, and plugging in the Elite controller using a USB cable automatically connected it to the computer. I even used the streaming feature in the Xbox app with no issues. Drivers
for the controller should be included in the most recent Windows 10 updates, so make sure that everything is up to date and try again?

i dont know if the elite controller has a adapter for windows pc (10) try reading this Can the Xbox one elite controller be used on PC?

The original XBox Elite controller requires the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 so without that adapter it will not be recognized properly by Windows. The newer, Elite Series 2 can connect to a Windows 10 PC without the need of an adapter.

I have the answer it states at the xbox website “The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller is also compatible with PCs running Windows 7 or later versions. To connect the controller to a PC, use the included
USB cable or use the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows (Windows 10 only).” hope this helps

There might be an update to the Xbox Accessories app on the PC. Check using the Microsoft Store app on Windows 10/11. The app on the PC should then be able to recognize the new firmware of the Elite Controller.

My Xbox elite controller just stopped working yesterday on a recently purchased laptop but already had the anniversary update on it so I can't roll back to the previous version of Windows 10.

I've noticed now that in the device and printer section of the Control Panel I've got a Xbox 360 controller for Windows entry which isn't present on another version of Windows 10 install on my desktop PC so this laptop now has two entries the elite controller
and the Xbox 360 controller in Control Panel.If I disabled the Xbox 360 controller entry I get functionality on the elite controller but on a restart Windows the 360 controller reappears in Control Panel and in device manager.

Strange thing that for a week since I've had this new laptop everything was working fine in, now steam doesn't recognise the elite controller and windows hasn't done an update so how's this happened?
