Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 - Warranty

I bought an Elite 2 In December 2019 from Amazon.ca and by the standard accessories warranty, it gave me a 90 day warranty. However, there have been several sources that claim they had a much longer warranty on this product, up to 2-3 years. Even a Microsoft
Agent said that the Elite 2, unlike other controllers, should have a 1 year warranty after registration (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...n-canada/e035b633-1b8c-4b76-82f7-62dcffe08af6).

1) What is the actual length of a warranty for the Elite Controller Series 2 in Canada?

Due to being preoccupied with school in a region that does not have a nearby Microsoft Store, I was unable to commute to the nearest store to get help with a
manufacturing defect I noticed right out of the box. Specifically, it has to do with
both the left and right triggers not working whenever the trigger locks are set to the lowest setting, which is arguably important for an Elite/Competitive controller.

The current pandemic broke out and it became increasingly difficult to find time and a safe means to visit the store. Again, by looking at what others had said about the warranty, I thought I was still within a reasonable time frame. With stores reopening,
I finally found time to go and service my controller, however they could not repair it and said that since my controller is out of warranty, I would have to pay approximately $150 to have it replaced.

I am disappointed as I did not expect to pay $400 to simply have a functioning controller.

2) Does anyone have any recommendations for the best course of action regarding fixing my controller at minimal cost?

Edit: I did not get it replaced through Amazon because it was the last one in Stock and there was no option to replace the item. My only option was simply getting a refund and then rebuying the item, however, all other options were way above the MSRP.
