Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 P3 Button Inconsistent

Just got a Elite 2 a couple of weeks ago and initially didn't use all four of the paddles just so I could get used to them slowly. But now that I use all four I've noticed that the P3 (upper right paddle if you're looking at the back of the controller) is
inconsistent with the rest of the paddles.

The other three paddles all take the same amount of pressure to trigger them, which is to say a normal amount--not too much or too little. But the P3 paddle sometimes doesn't even trigger when I press it. I tested this out by going into the Xbox Accessories
test mode for the controller.

When pressing P3 I don't always get a response from it underneath the "Button Pressed:" area, but always get a response from the other paddles. As well, the "sound" of the P3 paddle when being pressed sounds different than the other paddles, as if something
isn't seated correctly underneath the button itself.

I got the controller from Walmart less than a month ago, as they were the only place it was in stock. Should I just exchange it directly with them because of the paddle, or is going through Microsoft the better option?

I’m from Australia and if it was me in the same predicament I would definitely be going through Microsoft because it’s very easy to set up an order and for me I’ve always been getting it back within the week or two and most of the time they will just send
you a new controller

Hey thanks! I ended up just exchanging it and the same paddle on the one I exchanged for works perfectly. In fact, all of the paddles on the exchanged one feel the same and all have the same responsiveness, so I’m glad I went for the exchange.

As well, I think I’m gonna check into Microsoft’s extended warranty for some peace of mind. I know these controllers have been hit and miss for others.

It seems like what you have is an Xbox Elite Series controller. According to Xbox Support:

"P1, P2, P3, P4 paddles: For additional inputs, four paddles are snapped into the sockets found at the very bottom on the back of the controller"

Also, here's the default mapping that you can definitely customize:

P1 = B

P2 = Y

P3 = A

P4 = X

Thanks for the reply. The Elite controller series 2 has various methods of mapping the buttons and paddles as compared to the series 1. If you haven't done so already, I recommend taking a look at the following support articles that
