Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 - 4 defective units

Hey there,

So I've purchased 4 Elite Controller Series 2, each of them have had a defect.

First: Controller would not accept the 'Update' via Xbox One. [RETURNED]

Second: When holding the Right Analog stick down for ~3 seconds, the entire controller reset. 100% reproducible. [RETURNED]

Third: Sticky A button that stays down and either doesn't respond or spams the button.

Fourth: Multiple sticky buttons, but I've only used it briefly. Best of the 4... but not worth $200 + all the driving and returning I've done.

All of them do not connect to any of my Windows 10 PCs [4 separate desktops] Bluetooth. They never appear when searching.

So what's the deal? Is there a remediation plan being prepared? I noticed a post from Microsoft saying that 'A small percentage of units may experience issues'. I work in Customer Operations and this totally makes sense. I also noticed there are a non-zero
amount of other customers experience a slew of different problems.

I am wondering if I'm really unlucky, or if this is a larger problem and I should just go back to a normal controller.

All of this is a bummer since the controller is SO COMFORTABLE. Any thoughts or official responses would be much appreciated. Thanks.

DO NOT BUY THIS CONTROLLER! It is such a nice controller, but my god. Ive gotten 3 units myself, ALL were defective. The same exact issue. The A button fails to register when pressed at certain angles and applied with certain pressures. Sounds like a small
problem, but its not. Running in GTA V requires the A button. This is how I noticed it. I would stop running, despite spamming the A button. Going into Xbox Accesories app, I would click the test button. In test mode I witnessed the failed register despite
the audible click noise of the button, and if done right you can even get the button to stop responding completely. Before any microsoft "tech support" respond, yes my firmware is COMPLETELY up to date. I have already followed all troubleshooting guides etc.
I mean this is ridiculous, $200 for a controller and they cant even make the A button work. At this point the Original controller is higher quality. All pf that effort to improve the internal functions of the controller and the most neccasary button cant work
right. Stupid. All they can do is offer yet another replacement. I wonder, how much time and effort am I going to have to waste in order to get a functioning controller? 3 faulty products in a row tell me that no matter how many times I go back im gonna have
this issue. All support said I could do if I dont want another one is get a refund. If your own customer cant trust that they will recieve a working product after 3 failed faulty units, YOU HAVE AN ISSUE. If all I can do is get a refund I shouldn't have gotten
it in the first place! So now im warning anyone reading this. DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF HARDWARE. $180 is ridiculous for a controller, especially if it cant even press the A button without failing.

Ive had two faulty. Both had issues with the A button not registering presses. Sent them both back and decided not to bother with a replacement.

My elite series 2 rb button doesnt work and i cant find a replacement button how do i fix this

Microsoft knew the controllers were defective and still sold them as a good product. they wont do anything to fix your controller because its most like out of warranty thats why the warranty was so short. The whole elite series 2 was a scam

I have an xbox one elite controller, it's working fine - Use it as my primary controller and the grips / buttons all work fine, you must have been unlucky and received a defective unit.

My Elite version 2 controller has never disconnected but the internal battery will NOT charge. It is a brick unless it is plugged in with the USB wire or sitting on the charging dock. when plugged in or on charging dock the white LED light blinks but never
goes to a solid light even after 10 hours sitting on the charge dock. I've never seen the LED light go to color "amber" to signify it has a low battery. 180$ for a wired controller less than 8 months old.

I contacted support they told me it would bee 100$ to REPAIR!! because my 90 day warranty was up lol. 90 days for a controller they say "should last a lifetime".....

oh and option #2 they sent me a link to buy an Xbox "play and charge kit" ...lol for an Elite Series 2. The Elite Series 2 that has an INTERNAL BATTERY!

I am beyond pissed off and I get everyone's frustrations on this thread. This is all after going through 4 series 1 elite controllers.

To me it's absolutely UNACCEPTABLE that Microsoft wont at the least repair these controllers that are defective. Not broken but defective. And I mean repair for free or shipping charge ONLY.
