Xbox Elite Controller Series 1 Warranty

Okay so trying to get help with this has been an actual nightmare. I want to make a warranty claim for my Elite Controller that I bought last February in 2019 but every avenue I take I get walled off. I first tried the virtual agent and it either claims
it doesn't recognise my serial number (the 14 digit number found on the inside of the battery compartment) or it says I'm out of warranty which I assume has to do with Microsoft's bizarre 90 days warranty windows which is obviously against my countries consumer
laws since Scotland has a minimum 5 year warranty window under the 1979 Sale of Goods Act for electronic products and even the EU covers this too (which I believe we're still technically following their laws which at the moment has a minimum of 2 years warranty
cover).

I then tried phoning but the automated options prevent me from getting through to a person because it says I need to request a call back through the virtual agent. I tried doing that but the virtual agent just tells me the call back feature is closed and lists
the times their open even though I was requesting a call back during those times.

I then try and get through to a person through Windows Support Chat and not Xbox support...SUCCESS, I get through to someone...except they know nothing about xbox warranty claims and all they can suggest to me is to phone Xbox support, which is the same number
I already tried to get through earlier.

As it stands now, I seemingly have no way to get in contact with an actual person to resolve my warranty claim. Honestly this level of difficulty in getting the support I need must be illegal because it's next to impossible to get adequate help.
