Xbox elite controller repair, received broken controller in exchange

i recently sent my Elite wireless controller to microsoft for a repair and service, due to faulty grips. I now have a new controller however the entire D-pad doesn't work, but i cant seem to start a service order as it says its out of warranty, i know my
initial controller was coming up on its warranty date (i was rushing to get it to microsoft ASAP), what can i do? Is it the same controller?

On closer inspection it looks as though it was dropped, scuff marks on the battery case and the left trigger

Thanks for reaching out to the Forums for advice on what to do in this instance. I can totally understand how this could be pretty distressing. If you did indeed get the controller back from repair recently, you should still be in warranty. I would suggest
getting in contact with
customer support directly to have this rectified.

I set up a phone call on sunday and was able to talk to an agent about the situation, unfortunently the hardware specialists was not in (obviously its the weekend), so i got a call back today and was able to set up a new exchange

basically the warranty period hadn't started yet. Which makes it impossible to set up an exchange / repair online.

Depending on where you purchased the Elite Controller, you may be able to take advantage of the store exchange/return policy. Other than that, I'm not sure what the cost of repairs would be on Elite controllers. You can contact Microsoft support to see if
they can help with repair/exchange:
