    here just recently the elite controller went through and update.... Well when updating i got an error on screen saying it didn't work and now my $150 remote is a glorified paper weight. i have gone through trouble shooting but it is not the xbox and the
    console does not need to be reset. Ive tried other cables to make sure the usb works. even tried reinstalling the accessories app, but here is what it does. when the usb or batteries are plugged in the xbox home button/power on button just blinks and does
    not get recognized to be able to update. and the only advice i get from Microsoft is to buy a new one after their software corrupted their device when it was working perfectly fine before the update.

    if there is a way to factory rest the elite controllers SOFTWARE not button configuration.

    Can't update Xbox Elite 2 controller

    The Xbox accessories app is now updated and the Bluetooth works on the Elite Controller 2. I suggest updating everything, the app and plug in the controller to update it. Hope this helps.

    Hi Neecko92,

    Seems like the only workaround now is to connect your Elite controller to a Xbox One console, and update your Elite controller via the Xbox One console. Then it will work on your PC again.

    Xbox Elite Controller 2 firmware update

    This is a widespread issue for everyone using the Xbox Accessories App. You can update the Elite controller if you have a physical Xbox console, but the current Xbox Accessories App does not have an option to update an Elite controller. Other Xbox hardware, such as non-elite Xbox controllers or the Xbox Wireless headset do have update UI that works, but the Elite does not show that as an option, possibly because the UI button was replaced with "Rename".

    Refreshing, reinstalling, updating the App or Windows will not fix this issue. Microsoft needs to update the Xbox Accessories App with a fix. That's the only way to solve this issue that Microsoft created.

    Revert/Rollback/Downgrade Xbox Controller Firmware. There is a way to do this!!! (FULL guide with pics)

    Worked for me, I had to Xbox assist > search controller had issues after update > revert firmware

    All is good now, I have to still plug it in to the PC again like before for it to recognise we an elite controller though

    Found the *sort of* answer to this.

    I went to a buddys place and used his xbox one to re-rerun the firmware update for my elite controller. After doing that update, the chatpad started working. The Xbox One accessories app works with it in windows 10. Windows 10 does not have support for re-mapping
    chatpad keys.
