Xbox elite controller keeps flashing and won't work after failed update on controller

Hello everyone,

As the title states, my xbox controller just keeps flashing and wont work no matter what i do. The Controller was plugged in Via USB, batteries were off, and connection was not broken. At around 30% the update stops and said it failed to update. My Controller
then started Flashing sequentially, and would not sync with the USB connected.

My trouble shooting steps:

I turned off my xbox, plugged in another working, un-frayed, un-crinked, usb cable. same thing is still happening. (Xbox controller turns on, vibrates, but doesn't sync after being plugged in)
I then unplug and disconnect the usb CABLES, put some fresh Duracell batteries on my controller and turn it on. The controller turns on, the light remains flashing. I hit the sync button on my Xbox, then I hit the sync button on my controller (the sync
button didn't cause a change in the flashing light, the way it would when it would normally sync)
I then came to the xbox one support forums, read and performed all of the actions and procedures stated by microsoft's support team (hard power off on console, sync with different cables, holding down sync buttons, etc.) I also tried some unorthodox successful
methods of troubleshooting with no avail (spamming the sync button on console while controller is connected via USB, connect batteries then usb cable together, start xbox after hard shutdown while holding the xbox button on controller connected via USB)
Borrowed a friends controller, synced perfectly fine wirelessly and wired using all the USB cables previously stated
I then tried connecting my Controller to my windows 10 PC to see if it gets recognized as a plug-and-play adapter to no avail. (when I plugged it in to my computer, the flashing light on the controller remained the same. However, the PC did not make a
sound as it would when you plug in a USB device, and there was no new device in the Device Manager)
After step 5 I came to the conclusion that my once perfectly working Xbox One controller, has now been Bricked due to a failed update.If anyone has had a similar problem, or think that they might be able to find a solution for this please let me know as
I would greatly appreciate any help.

P.S. Don't comment with obvious solutions, as i've tried most if not all, the solutions on the Support page with no luck.

Once there choose the category of your issue "in this case I would go with Xbox One" and from there you can chat with a service rep. via chat window. Or you can request that they actually call you so that you may really talk to someone and get this issue
figured out.

Exactly same problem with you guys. My brand new Xbox Elite Controller failed to update twice and now it kind of "brick". These are the exact descriptions for those who might concern:

- First time plugin ever, the controller vibrated a little and the XBox Accessories saw my controller but failed to update.

- Second time, unpluged and pluged in as the app tell me to, the controller still vibrate a little, the app saw my controller, still failed to update, although the process bar did progress further than first time.

- Third time unpluged and pluged in, no vibrate this time and the app did not recognise my controller. Symptoms exactly like "MY Ryunam".

After digging through countless posts about kind of similar problems with XBox One Controller (not Elite). I found one potential solution is that I will need an XBox One Console, plug my controller to it and hope it will continue to perform the update correctly.
Problem is I do not have an XBox One Console so I cannot tell if this work or not.

hey thanks for the help I tried turning it on manual and the controller sync but after that it won't sync anymore and the lights keep on flashing on the controller. when I try to go sync it with the 360 but the 360 doesn't pick it up and the lights still
flash on the controller. what does this also mean?

I usually use a usb cable with my elite controller. So, i suggest you try that or check for controller updates as well as a console update.

Hi, Thanks. Done all the update for the controller. The strange part is that is I power up the console using the X button on the console, then press the X button on the controller, it will sync. If I try to power up the console through controller, the console
will power up but the controller will keep on flashing.
