Xbox Elite Controller grips peeling

The super glue thing didn't work, grips kept peeling. Bought the Scuff replacement panels and a week later the right bumper button stops working. Really wanted to like the elite, but went and bought a Patrol Tech controller. Not wasting anymore time and
money on this so called elite controller.

Oh and the replacement panels don't fix when the rubber grips on the bottom of the controller start peeling. The Elite controller was a great idea, but poorly executed.

I love my elite controller. I'm on my 3rd, thank God for the best buy extended repair service.

First 2 it was a bumper issue, now I have the same rubber peeling.

I tried using super glue, but the rubber not only seems peeled, but stretched. It seems too large now. Anyway, eBay and Amazon have replacement grip panels from $20-35. I have the controller tool kit (got from eBay) that has the torx drivers and the plastic
remover for the panels.

Getting new panels is an easy fix. You can get all caught up on the "I shouldn't have to do this" thing, but I'd rather just replace the panels. I've had this 3rd controller for over a year and I put 30-40 hrs a week on it, so $20 for panels after a year
is fine for me.

The thing I advise, if you choose to do the same, is GET THE PANEL REMOVING TOOL. Removing the panels is easy with it, but without it, you could seriously mess up the appearance of your controller.

My elite is about a year old and the rubber grips on the back is peeling on both sides, may I ask what replacement grips you purchased? I think I'm just going to go with aftermarket grips like you suggested other than wait for MS.

Typically this type of warranty is only for items boxed with the console. Unfortunately, my Elite Controller was purchased separately.

Got an Xbox Elite console last Christmas (2015) and was very happy with it until now. The controller grip gray part has started peeling on the left hand side.

I contacted Xbox customer support and was told that the warranty was only good for 90 days and has expired - so I could either fix it or buy a new one for $150-160.

I think this is crap. There is nothing else wrong other than the rubber grip and I would consider that a manufacturing defect. Why would I want to spend that kind of money to replace a controller for only a grip issue and run the chance of the new controller
doing the same thing in about 8 months.

Looking around on the internet, I see this seems to be a known issue with these. Microsoft needs to step up, make this right, and issue a recall or something.

Hey Phil (Spencer)/Microsoft, pay attention, this is important! unacknowledged QC issues, like this one, (affecting the console's biggest fans/spenders -- moreover the top 7-12% of your base who can actually afford to buy a $150 controller)
are why many of us are jumping ship to the blue team. Honestly, I have all of the major consoles and if weren't for the fact that games look/run better on the One X (right now), I'd just jump ship all together. Most Xbox titles make their way to PC eventually
anyway.

This isn't the first (or worst) issue you've had with hardware. Remember the RRD'd 360's? MS wouldn't fix the "out of warranty" ones. ...again an obvious production issue that needed to be handled despite warranty status. Hiding behind the warranty expiration
loophole was cowardly and no way to treat customers given you knew it was a production issue.

...so, Microsoft, you rewarded its most loyal fans whom contributed both massive amounts of time and hard earned money to the platform by giving us the finger after we missed the warranty repair window.

Dude, seriously, a few years back, on my PS3 which I'd purchased on eBay, the HDMI port became loose and wasn't posting (there was no warranty or receipt) and Sony shipped me a box with a custom bracket to send it to them for repair, they fixed it, then
shipped it back to me, all for free (despite warning me that this was more of a usage issue). Say what you want about how they handled that but when it was time to order a new console, I didn't hesitate to get their new console. Marketing dollars Sony spent
on my repeat business: 3-way ground shipping for a broken PS3 and 15mins technician's labor to solder in a new HDMI port. I preordered the PS4 knowing if there were issues, they'd take care of it.

I havent had a problem with mine. The only drama i have faced is the grip peeling on the Elite controller. I am up to my 3rd atm because of the grip peeling but i could never not use the Elite.

I am currently on my 2nd elite. Due to the Grips peeling. part from the grips peeling i haven't had any other problems. I hope they fix this issue with the Elite 2.0

I have had an elite controller since they were released. I have gone through 2 due to the grips on the back peeling off. To me it all comes down to comfort and the triggers are in great spots. When i held the Razor controller it didn't feel right to me (either
because i'm use to the elite controller or just not feeling it).

My grips are starting to peel again on my 3rd controller but yep, i know what id be replacing it with. (another Elite)

I've bought 3 elite controllers and literally at 91 days of owning each of then the grip started peeling off. The worst part is if u try to put it back its like the grip is now to big for the controller and no longer fits correctly... this happened on all
3 of mine
