Xbox Elite Controller disconnects on windows 10 using wireless dongle

Thanks for the quick reply. I am not using both at the same time. I use one dongle and for trouble shooting purposes i have synced one controller to ONE dongle on ONE pc to test one at a time. I have done this on both gaming pc's to test and it still happens.
I use the controllers with a usb cord all the time on my computers and it works fine when it is connected via usb.

So in conclusion both controllers work with usb and i have ensured that they both have the latest firmware but to no avail. I have used fresh batteries, recharge packs, and rechargeable batteries and the same outcome. I have tried with the headset connected
and disconnected and this made no difference either. I have seen a lot of reports regarding this so i know i am not alone and i tired numerous troubleshooting methods such as deleting xbox 360 controller drivers and changing the power management settings of
the the dongle via device manager and this has not worked either.

I really want to buy the new elite controller but with the problems i am currently having i am hesitant because as far as i know the dongle will still be the same for pc.

Well shoot. I'm sorry to hear that none of that worked. It seems like you've tested everything pretty exhaustively. As a last-ditch effort, you could always try to contact Xbox support directly at
https://support.xbox.com.

On the bright side, to your last point, the new
Elite Series 2 controller is Bluetooth enabled! So at the very least, you won't have to worry about the dongle if you did get one (which is one of the reasons I'm so excited for mine to arrive, I assure you I've had no shortage of headaches with my own
wireless dongle on PC). And any of the newest-generation of non-elite controllers (since shortly after the Xbox One S was released) are Bluetooth-compatible as well.

Just for clarity's sake, are you trying to use both dongles at once? If so, that could be the issue. Each dongle should be able to support multiple controllers (they handle up to 8) so you only need to have one plugged in.

If you mean that you have tried both individually and neither one works, there might be issues with the controllers (especially if they don't work on two different computers). I assume at this point you've already checked the obvious (controllers have fresh
batteries, etc.) so maybe try plugging in via USB cable directly to the controllers and see if there is a firmware update available? I can't think of what else might be causing random disconnects like that.

What operating system are you running? You can only connect the controller via bluetooth on Windows 10.

On 8.1 and below the PC will see the controller but be able to use it, for wireless use you'll need the official dongle.

Under Human Interface Devices, as Xbox One Wireless Controller. This is when connected with the Microsoft wireless USB dongle.

I’ve also seen the controller under game controllers when initially connected via Bluetooth. But I abandoned using it via Bluetooth with my windows 10 pc. Only wireless adapter now.
