Xbox Elite Controller Being Recognized as a Regular Controller

Hello all,

My Xbox One Elite Controller is being recognized as a regular controller and it will not update. In the Xbox system settings under devices it is listed as a "Xbox One Wireless Controller" instead of the Elite as I have seen on some other Xboxes from friends.
Also it will not update the firmware past 2.3.2369.2 (I believe there is a 2.3.2381.0 at the moment.) Also, when using the Stereo Adapter, my mic has no output, but using the built in 3.5mm jack it does. It seems like the controller needs an update that
it is not doing.



For reference, I have tried re-pairing the controller to the Xbox using the connect button on top and on the Xbox, I have also connected the controller via USB numerous times to no avail.



Any ideas on what to try to fix this?

Xbox One Elite Controller thumb Stick Lag

My elite controller isn't nearly as responsive as a regular controller. its the thumb sticks. they lag in game and in the hud. I have a feeling its because of the new wifi tech they use or the fact that they are configurable. please make these elite
controllers work as well as the regular ones. anyone with an elite controller can compare them in game or the dashboard. right now I'm in a party of 8 and everyone with an elite controller is having the issue I'm describing

 

Xbox Elite Controller Registration w/o Xbox Console

My Xbox elite controller is becoming faulty and the left thumb stick is now loose and leaning more to the right. i want to register my controller but without a Xbox console. calling customer support (2 hours) did nothing to help and trying to register on
Microsoft device support resulted in the serial number not being recognized under the product family. I refuse to buy a an Xbox one or another elite controller. What are my options?

 

You could try power cycling the xbox.

Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will power down. Power back on after.

 

I've tried that as well, didn't affect anything. Thanks though!

 

Hi Im having the same problems did you go to the xbox.com/xboxone/elitecontroller to find how to download the app for the controller?

 

I have this same microphone input issue with my Master Chief controller and Stereo Headset Adapter. Both the Master Chief and Elite controllers are listed as compatible with the Stereo Headset Adapter.

I have the same problem, when I try to use the xbox one app it says "please connect an elite controller" even though I am using my elite controller to navigate the UI.

If anyone comes up with a fix for this please post, thank you

 

Hey everyone!

To check, which USB cable are you using? If you're not using the USB cable that was included with the Xbox One Elite Controller please try connecting that instead of the Play & Charge cable. If it's still not showing as an Elite Controller please try a quick
power cycle by holding power button for 10 seconds (or until console turns off), then try again.

Also, if you haven't hadn't a chance try updating your Xbox One controller with the steps on

this page. Unfortunately if your console still isn't recognizing your Elite controller after all that a repair or replacement would be your next option. I would recommend first reaching out to the retailer you purchased from for an exchange. If they're
currently not in stock you can set up a
Repair/Replacement here.
