Xbox Elite Controller back-paddles

OK. So I finally got around to getting an Xbox Elite remote, which I bought off of GameStop.com.

Works freaking great!

But there seems to be a problem with the back paddles now.

Sometimes (Mostly in the middle of a match) the paddles will just stop working. The only way to fix this is to turn off & on the controller.

And this has become more and more frequent the last few day?

Any solutions? or should I enact the warranty?

Xbox One Elite Controller Opinions

So I bought a Xbox One Elite Controller but I just cannot get on with the paddles on the back of the controller.

Is it a case of perseverance or does anyone not bother with using the paddles?

Xbox Elite paddles

Hello, I bought the Xbox Elite controller for my PC and I very satisfied with it, but I have a question. Elite controller have four paddles that copy ABXY default and in special app from WinStore I can remapping it but only on controller buttons. On PC it
will be very useful to use this 4 paddles like unique buttons because some games like Elite Dangerous have many button-options. Question: will Microsoft make update for Elite controller on PC, that make 4 paddles unique buttons?

Have you made sure the controller is up to date? Go to settings, devices and check to make sure no update is available...

Is it happening in one game you particularly play? Does it work correctly in others?

Had the Elite Controller since it came out and I would also suggest making sure the firmware is updated. Also instead of completely turning the controller on and off you can try a few other things. Have the same profile loaded in save slot 1&2 and try switching
between them. Open the Accessories App and save the profile to the slot. Try double pressing the sync button, this is normally disables the paddles so you aren't accidentally pushing buttons. Should get a double vibration letting you know they are off and
then do it again and it should vibrate once letting you know the paddles are enabled again.

Depending on how long ago you bought I would try to take it back to a Gamestop store for a replacement or refund before going through Microsoft warranty.

-Yes. The controller is up to date.

-Playing CoD: Black Ops 3 mostly, my friend also has a Elite Controller, and he does not have a problem.

-Switching back & forth between slot 1&2 doesn't work, but using the sync button to turn off and on the paddles fixes it.

There is no “Elite” model for the console itself. There is only an Elite model controller that has paddles on the back and interchangeable sticks.

To be very, very clear, the problem is that the newest firmware updates to Xbox elite 2 controller has broken the functionality of the paddles. As of the latest firmware, the paddles are completely disabled when in default profile. The paddles used to work in default mode, and now they don't. Steam can corroborate this: last year Steam added functionality to customize the outputs of the elite controllers paddles, which means that the paddles used to output a unique signal instead on only emulating other controller buttons.

A quick internet search reveals numerous accounts from users who had used steam to customize the paddle outputs, proving that the paddles used to work. You can also see a growing number of recent complaints from Elite controller users who are realizing that their paddle inputs are now broken. This is not an isolated occurrence, the elite controller was broken by the latest firmware updates, and people are realizing it.

The changes made to the Xbox elite 2 Controller paddles in the latest firmware updates NEED TO BE REVERTED.

Same issue here, after various updates to Windows 11.

Firstly, the device was before recognised as "xbox elite series 2" I believe, but is now recognised as a generic xbox wireless controller.

Secondly, the paddles on the back are now disabled if no profile is selected. However, if a profile is selected, the paddles on the back are recognised as the A, B, X and Y buttons.

Fingers crossed MS will update this soon! Great controller otherwise. I would like to be able to use the paddles though.
