Xbox Elite Controller 2 randomly disconnecting from Windows 10 PC

    Dear team,

I'm experiencing the same issue with my Xbox Elite Controller 2 that many users have experienced months ago: it's connected to my Windows 10 PC via Bluetooth (not a dongle but an internal Intel module), it works fine for a while, and then it disconnects
for just a second, then reconnects. This is enough to disrupt any gaming experience, and it is not what I expect to happen with a device that is so expensive. My drivers, the controller firmware, and Windows 10 are all up to date. Is there any fix I missed
while looking for solutions online? Are others still experiencing similar things, and has anyone found a way to solve the problem?

    Thank you,

    Sascha

    :)

    Hi saschanico,

Here is a great support page specific to Bluetooth use of Xbox controllers which hopefully can help you.

    https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/accessories/connect-and-troubleshoot-xbox-one-bluetooth-issues

Typically from what I've seen myself connectivity issues like you are reporting with really any Bluetooth device are usually one of the following.

    1. Hardware Driver related, either incompatible or outdated version, or use of a generic driver provided by pc manufacturer and not the hardware manufacturer version. Or driver settings are not properly set and clashing with other devices in use.

    2. Power settings..either on the PC or within the driver/hardware configuration itself for the Bluetooth card. If any form of power saver mode is set to auto or on, during times of inactivity or if too much distance from card and evice is detected the device
may disconnect and then re-pair when detected in use. This can also happen when there are objects like furniture, walls etc between the device and the pc. Wifi cards do this all the time and cause loss of connectivity or even the wifi option to totally disappear.

    3. Hardware failure, hardware registration reset or resource limit reached due to a electrical short, multiple devices using the same connection, or too many programs running on the machine in the background. That one is easily remedied by closing everything
open not needed, disconnecting any unneeded devices connected,, clearing your startup items and disabling any unneeded services at startup.

    4. Interference from other close proximity wireless or Bluetooth devices. Sometimes I have seen where if there are any other devices of similar nature plugged into a parallel USB port or within close proximity to the internal card and antennas they can fight
and usually only one will work right and by moving the connection to another port or away from the card communications resume a bit better.

Same issue here. I've seen many other threads regarding this issue get locked without solving. I had my first controller replaced only to keep experiencing the same issue. I've been playing wired ever since I got this controller (which basically defeats
the purpose), and I've found no way around it.

It's been over a year since this product was released; if there's no fix by now I doubt there'll ever be one. If you are still in your warranty window, I'd recommend you return it: replacing it will do you no good.

    Good luck!

Some other symptoms I've found that accompany this problem:

    1. After switching to "wired" mode the controller will, sometimes, fail to connect until the device is forgotten and paired all over again
    2. Sometimes the controller will disconnect and it will fail to connect until the device is forgotten and paired all over again, instead of reconnecting
    3. Sometimes the connectivity problem isn't evident, but presents itself as constant vibration of the controller or the game freezing for a couple of seconds
Has anyone encountered any of these as well? The main issue stays the same, but shows up in different ways (I think).

    Dear fellow users,

thank you for your notes of sympathy and helpful suggestions as to narrowing down the problem, if not solving it; it seems to be mainly a matter of interference with other devices, as turning off one other Bluetooth device in the room seemed to help. I'd
say my living room is about as average as it gets in terms of space and the number of wireless devices turned on, so it is very dubious that the most expensive controller on the market is the one and only device that has trouble maintaining a stable connection
    among the signals.

With so much guesswork on the part of so many of us users, this really is a software issue Microsoft needs to fix. However, I also noticed that every single thread I saw on these forums was closed due to the topic being old (but of course not resolved).
I'm looking forward to the final message on here that will, I bet you, do just the same thing without even referencing any of the entries before or acknowledging that the problem persist. I'd say we might just keep opening new threads, though, if any of you
    want to bother...

    All the best,

    Sascha

While all of these may be true in general, it does not change one fact:

All other controllers work perfectly fine in the exact same scenario. I too am experiencing this issue. I have a bluetooth keyboard connected (no headphones). Sony DS4 works flawlessly for hours, same with 5 different 8bitdo controllers. Only the Elite 2
will fail to transmit input, cause stutter in games and often loose it's connection altogether. I have tried to find a solution on this forum, and there are a ton of posts, but all have been closed without a solution for being "old". If MS doesn't want people
posting about problems for an extended period of time, maybe they should just solve them? Or - at least - state clearly that it is a problem with the device that cannot/will not be resolved with a firmware update. Then we can return the controllers and look
for solutions from other manufacturers - at least for PC...
