Xbox Elite 2 xbox accessories Firmware problem on PC

Same issue. Elite Series 2 on PC, pressing the A Button brings up the Game Bar (a commonly reported problem). The solution is apparently to update the firmware from 4.7.xxxx to whatever the current one is. But I can't do that because the Xbox Accessories app is outdated and won't even register that there is an update to download.

There might be an update to the Xbox Accessories app on the PC. Check using the Microsoft Store app on Windows 10/11. The app on the PC should then be able to recognize the new firmware of the Elite Controller.

To avoid such problems is good practices update the controller.

On a console, follow these steps:

Step 1: On the console, navigate to Devices and Accessories.

Step 2: Find the Elite controller. It should say Update Required if it is the correct controller.

Step 3: Re-run the firmware update.

On Windows 10 system, you can begin the process of recovering the controller.

Step 1: Install the Xbox Accessories application.

Step 2: Once Xbox Accessories is installed, plug the controller in. It should turn on and say Update Required if your controller is visible to the PC and Xbox Accessories.

Step 3: Click Update Required and allow the firmware to reinstall.

If you followed these steps correctly, your controller should be functional again.

I have the same problem. I would appreciate option to downgrade firmware on PC because I do not own Xbox console, but when I open link using Xbox Accessories app I have no instructions to follow. Only usual screen with my Elite 2 controller loaded.

How do I start downgrade process?

Any updates on this? I just got an Elite 2 and am having the same issue. I don't own an xbox so I can't just connect it to an xbox to get that update.

Microsoft finally released an update through the Xbox Accessories app on the PC in the last couple weeks. Firmware Version 4.8.1908.0 fixes the issue.
