Xbox Elite 2 - Windows 10 - Won't connect after using USB cable

Since it's not possible to configure my controller connected with Bluetooth I have to connect with the USB-C cable.

It works like it should, I can configure the controller, but after I remove the cable I have to remove the controller and connect again.

Is there a button combo or something I should do to tell the controller to connect again with Bluetooth.

    Kinda annoying.

Also, why is not possible to configure with Bluetooth? Will it be possible if I get a USB dongle for the xbox native connection?

    :)

I still don't know if I'll be able to configure the controller with the Xbox USB dongle...

Also, not clear why with Bluetooth I can't...

As for the rest of the instructions, they are just to pair the controller again, and that's what I have to do, and that's exactly what I don't want to do, as it makes no sense, since once you pair a Bluetooth device, you should never have to pair a device
again, this is a basic Bluetooth connection.

By pressing and holding the Bind button(19) again it'll make a new connection, as it does with all Bluetooth devices, and this is not the way of reconnecting.

To be sure we're on the same page, if I don't use the cable, the controller reconnects back to Bluetooth just fine, only after I use the cable that I'm not able anymore.

I do understand and yes while I did miss the Windows 10 in the title, I did correctly assume you were talking about a PC connection and responded as such.

Yes, I know that you are talking about connecting again with Bluetooth after updating the controller and connecting via USB. Yes, I do understand that and also responded as such. I will go over the steps for connecting the controller via USB again. I know exactly
the issue you are having as I have to go through the same steps every time I connect my controller via USB.

As far as the dongle goes, yes you can get it and connect "natively" though the Bluetooth is just as native in the controller and where my confusion came in because Bluetooth is native on PC, just not Xbox. In fact adding the 2.4GHz dongle would be very not
"native", though likely you have other peripherals that do (and could possibly interfere).

I understand it would not connect back via Bluetooth. Did you read and follow the links? My units connect via USB and I basically have to go though the initialization of the Bluetooth again. Those links give the steps.

Also the last two paragraphs are important. Under Settings -> Devices -> Bluetooth & other devices or Click on the Window and type "Bluetooth settings" first ensure your PC is discoverable, then go through the list and disconnect your Xbox Controller. It may
in more than one spot. Then go through the procedure in the link above and reconnect your controller by pushing the black button listed in the first link.

This should work great for you. It does for me. I often switch back and forth for various reasons. Sometimes it switches automatically, sometimes I have to help it. I never have to remove the USB drivers obviously since the controller is not connected that
way, then Windows is not looking for it via that path.

Give it a try. Then tell us what step is not working for you and we will give you more detail. Let us know.

    Good luck!

We are having the same issue with four Series 2 controllers. Have you figured out why the controller does not connect via Bluetooth after disconnecting it from the USB cable? I can't imagine this is how the controller was designed to work. Thanks.

I'm running into this issue too. I can pair my series 2 controller with my PC via bluetooth and it works fine. However, as soon as I use the usb cable and plug it into my PC, like if I wanted to charge it while playing, it works fine. Unfortunately if I
then unplug from the USB cable, the controller no longer pairs via Bluetooth. I have to forget the device in Windows bluetooth settings, then re-pair it like it's the first time I've ever done it.

It's like by connecting via USB resets the controllers memory of connecting via bluetooth or something. Quite annoying.

I also agree, we should be able to configure the controller wirelessly somehow. Whether it be via some new dongle thing or preferably via bluetooth.

Thanks for the patience on getting back to me, however I don't see an answer for any of my questions....'

As it states on the title, indeed it's a PC with Windows 10.

As for the dongle, my questions is first: why is not possible to configure the controller with Bluetooth? Isn't this connection reliable?

Second, IF I get a native dongle, will it be possible to configure? (I've already found it to buy, but I will not if they work the same as Bluetooth.

My question for the connection is about connecting the USB to configure, then I have to remove Bluetooth device and connecting again.

I have to do this as it won't connect back after I remove the USB cable.
