Xbox Elite 2 controller STILL disconnects

This controller has been out since 2019, and MANY people have problems with it disconnecting, and NONE of the 'fixes' work. How is this still the case in 2025? Just fix the thing!

I'm on PC, and this has been an ongoing issue since I bought it 5 years ago.. for $250 AU. Premium pricing for dodgy hardware. Nothing I have researched and tried has worked. Not even when I unplug the dongle and use USB cable.

Also, neither bumper works anymore. Lucky it has the paddles at the back, which I have setup as the bumpers.

It seems to me, just like Nvidia, Microsoft products (software AND hardware) just seem to get worse and worse, while getting more and more expensive....

Hello Kade, sorry to hear you're having trouble.

I see you've had the controller for quite a few years so far so age could be a factor in it not functioning as expected. However, please install the Xbox Accessories app if it's not already and ensure that it's fully updated.

Sorry to hear you're having issues with your Elite 2 controller :/ Here's some questions/things you can try that might tell us more (totally understand that you probably can't try all of them):

Have you tried any other controllers with your Xbox and do they ever exhibit this issue (disconnecting while wireless)?
Does your Elite 2 controller have the same issue (disconnecting while on wireless) on other Xboxes?
Have you tried a hard reset on your Xbox just to rule that out?
Have you tried removing the batteries from the Elite 2 controller while disconnected from the cord? (like controller hard reset)
Have you checked to make sure the battery are seated firmly in the controller and that the back plate fits snugly?
Have you tried syncing your Elite 2 controller to another Xbox, and then re-syncing it back to your own Xbox?

Hopefully this will help us determine if it's your controller or Xbox that is causing the problem!

I just got in an Elite Series 2 controller with the same issue. it is not removed from the devices list but still does not reconnect to bluetooth when disconnected from USB (charging/accessory app). The status light (xbox home button) just flashes slowly. It continues to do this until it shuts off or I delete and pair the controller again.

side note: elite controller is fully updated

Ive had the baseline controllers for years and keep holding back from pulling the trigger (get it?) for an elite controller. When the series 2 came out, I was ready to go get one, but the fervor died off with reports of disconnecting.

Right now I’m still waiting to get an elite. I plan on it sometime this year, maybe with the Series X
