Xbox Elite 2 Controller Repair Service/Replacement service

My left thumbstick started drifting terribly last night. I got my controller on Christmas, so of course, it is outside of its pitiful 90 warranty period by a couple of weeks and now I'm stuck with a $180 (GF actually bought it for close to $300 on Amazon,
not knowing any better) paperweight. My question is whether the $99 replacement they are offering a new controller or a refurbished one?

Yes. My girlfriend purchased it from a third party seller on Amazon and they, unfortunately, don't offer any kind of warranty. I get that people can be hard on controllers but this 90 day warranty period really is dismal for such an expensive piece of
gear. I just want to know if I spend another $99 on this if they will be sending me a new one or a broken one they "fixed".

They give me no options there other than buying replacement parts for the swappable components (thumbsticks, paddles, d pad). Nothing about repair of the unit itself or replacement parts for the internals.
