XBOX Elite 2 controller failures. What is going on!

Bought a three controllers; one of them being an XBOX Elite 2, off AMAZON store (Microsoft) in December as Xmas gift for my son. Right bumper button has failed after 4 months. At first thought it was software related but later realized it was hardware failure.
Button has to be pressed really hard to get it to react.

To my horror when I tried to log service/repair I find it only has a 90 day warranty which lapsed during COVID-19 lockdown in any event! Absolutely ridiculous. If I was the only one that had an issues could maybe understand but searching the web it seems
this unit is plagued with hardware issues.

At $180 I expect it to last a darn sight longer. Ironically the cheap and nasty $25 PowerA controller I bought at the same time still working as well as the Fortnite Edition unit in same order.

What do I do?

Never thought of that. Will try give it a clean with some air.

If the bumper is really hard to press, many times it may be a small items lodging itself somewhere in the crevices. Have you tried cleaning the controller and testing it? This may be a good option.

Hello, I would call up to XBOX and speak with a rep in support or warranty. Maybe they will understand with all this Covid stuff and still honor your warranty even though its now over

There is a switch at the back of the controller that limit the trigger to . 🤔

Please ensure you are not referring to the limiters which reduce travel on purpose on the controllers?
