Xbox elite 2 controller bricked after update

Hello

I have recently bought an xbox elite 2 controller and it worked fine until i decided it would be a good idea and use the "xbox accessories" app on the windows store to update it.

Afterwards no game reacted to any input i did on the controller even though the accessories app itself recognizes inputs, i have tried to find solutions online but have only found posts telling me to connect it to an xbox to rollback the update, which I or any of my friends dont own.

The app itself doesnt have a rollback button neither, so im just stuck with a non functioning controller that cannot play any games. does anyone know how to fix the controller on pc only without requiring me to buy a console or new controller?

Once the app is installed, select the link below to open the controller firmware reversion screen in the Xbox Accessories app, then follow the instructions to revert the firmware.

I was having the same exact problem. Xbox Accessories it told me that I needed to update. When I clicked update, the process failed, and the controller no longer functioned.

Your suggestion to use the Xbox Accessories seems a bit silly as it was using that app that bricked the controller in the first place.

I actually did manage to fix it though! Hopefully this helps people:

The problem seemed to be what USB port I was using. I have a USB hub, and with the controller connected to the hub, Xbox Accessories detected the controller, but attempting to do a firmware update bricked it.

I disabled bluetooth on the PC, unplugged the USB cord from the controller, turned the controller off

Then I plugged the USB (A) into a port directly on the back of my PC.

I plugged the USB (C) side into the controller, which turned it on.

(controller still bricked at this point)

I then opened Xbox Accessories app and did a firmware update.

This time the progress bar started moving, and the update was a success.

The controller is now working as intended.

How do I start downgrade process?

1.Install app Xbox Accessories.

2.Connect conctroller to PC. with USB cable

3.Copy text xboxaccessories:\\firmwareupdate?legacyDowngrade=true paste to Addrest bar of File Expolrer

4. Ready to Revert

Hi,

I have the same problem. I would appreciate option to downgrade firmware on PC because I do not own Xbox console, but when I open link using Xbox Accessories app I have no instructions to follow. Only usual screen with my Elite 2 controller loaded.

How do I start downgrade process?

Another victim here. Received my brand new Elite controller today, bricked after the update from xbox accessories app.

It may have been windows 10 anniversary update drivers that caused issue. Anyone here is facing the same brick issue without the anniversary update on their windows 10?
