Xbox Dongle and Windows 11

I got an xbox controller to use with my Windows 11 pc but the dongle only shows as XBOX ACC in hardware manager.

While trying to find drivers it says no drivers found.

I followed instructions elsewhere and downloaded the driver manually but get an error code 48 on installing; Xbox Wireless Adaptor for Windows is blocked due to being know to have problems with Windows and to contact the manufacturer for a mew driver.

I've tried installing the driver first, then selecting it from Installed drivers on this PC option. This resulted in "Windoes cannot verify this driver is compatable". After that it calls the device Xbox Wireless Adaptor, but says no driver installed.

Other things to note;

Windows is up to date.

I have run a health check and have no corrupted files.

I have disabled all other apps from starting on bootup.

I've tried 6 different USB ports, USB 2, 3 and powered hubs.

Where did you get the drivers from? The drivers for the Xbox Wireless Adaptor for Windows are embedded within the Windows 10/11 operating system, if you downloaded them from somewhere they were possibly illegitimate or unofficial drivers. I'd recommend uninstalling those drivers immediately.

Try the following solutions:

- Make sure Windows is up to date by going to Windows Update on your device and checking for available updates.

- Reboot your device and try again.

- Try another USB 2.0 or 3.0 port.

- Try reinstalling the drivers in case they have partially installed. To do so, you need to uninstall the drivers. Follow these steps to complete this process:

Go to Device Manager. Locate Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows in the Network adapters section.

Select Xbox Wireless Adaptor for Windows to bring up the Properties window.

Select the Driver tab. On the Driver tab, select Uninstall or Uninstall Device (depending on your version of Windows).

On the confirmation window, check the Delete the driver software for this device box.

Unplug the Xbox Wireless Adaptor for Windows and reboot your Windows device. Once the device is back on, plug in the adaptor.

If the Xbox Wireless Adaptor for Windows still does not install, follow all of the above steps thoroughly one more time

If this doesn't work, your adaptor might need to be replaced. It comes with a 90-day warranty, contact the seller to claim this warranty. If it's past the warranty all I can advise is buying a new adapter.

yeah im on windows 11 and and i have tried it through bluetooth and the xbox dongle but it only happens with xbox compatible games besides apex.

How are you trying to connect it to Windows? Via the Microsoft Adapter or with a Bluetooth dongle? If BT, do other BT devices work fine?

Is your Windows up-to-date as well as drivers for the relevant device?

Have you used a controller successfully before?

Are you on Windows 10 or 11?

Hi,

If your controller works on other PC's bar the one you actually want to use it on there is either something wrong with your PC or there is a problem with your Windows installation. Drivers for both the Xbox One and Series controllers are already built into Windows 10 and 11, therefore there is no external drivers to download.

As for Bluetooth, a standard BT dongle on Amazon cost no more than around $10-12.

getting error 48 driver has been disabled for a brand new xbox gamepad for my PC running windows 11, driver installing the relevant cab, no joy.

Any help woud be appreciated.

got it fixed by removing the current driver and installing a new one via windows updates, the **** hell is there not a p!ssing driver package available XBOX dongles, thats 4 hours of my time completely waste.
