Xbox doesn't want to connect to the internet

Alright, so after 3 chats with xbox live help reps I decided to finally go the forums since the last rep told me that if what he suggested didn't work I'd have to send my xbox in for repairs.

I used to connect to live by using my laptop as a router since I didn't feel like having a 50+ foot Ethernet cable running through my home to reach my modem. It worked fine for a long time, but a few days ago my xbox decided that it was done with connecting
to the internet via my laptop.

I'm wondering if anyone has any info to help me with this, I've already done everything that the xbox help page has on an issue like mine and talked to 3 reps who told me to have my ISP open ports and to wipe my hard drive clean (which I will not do for obvious
reasons.)

My xbox does connect to live when I directly connect my xbox directly into the modem, but since I can't keep my xbox next to my modem when I want to play that's not a permanent solution.

Buying a wireless adapter for my Xbox also isn't an option since I've tried to buy and use one in the past and my Xbox rejected it.

So essentially I can't connect this Xbox I've had since 2009 to the internet unless it can connect through my laptop once again.

Also I've tried connect my Xbox One to the internet via my laptop and it worked perfectly so I really don't know what else to try.

Hopefully someone on the forums who's had a similar problem like mine can help me out.

like it did for 3 months but then it started to have to wait like 5 to 10 min to connect to Xbox live but now it can't even connect.

If you don't want to run an Ethernet Cable through your house, why don't you use Powerline adapters, and connect your console with Ethernet through your Powerlined network.

I appreciate the advice Taidara, if it wasn't as expensive as it is I would definitely get powerline adapters, but since I will only use it for one device I don't see a need of shelling out the money quite yet.

I wouldn't refer powerline adapters as expensive networking devices.

Can you detailing out any troubleshooting steps you've taken so far, so we don't post up solutions that may only echo back.

Some NAT problems are subtle and don't appear in the Test Xbox Live Connection test. Most likely there's a port blocked... ports can be blocked in your router,
modem, or at your ISP.

Since the Xbox 360 uses different ports than PCs & Macs use, you can't see the effect of a port blockage
except on the Xbox.

A sequential power cycle is the first step in clearing a port blockage, and the order and
timing of the steps is important to success:

1) turn off the Xbox then

2) unplug power from the router (Some folks have a combination modem-router AKA 'gateway' or only use a modem with no router. If either, skip steps 3 & 6).

3) unplug power from the modem.

4) Wait at least 30 secs then replug the modem (or gateway) power.

5) Wait 'til the light on the front of the modem (or gateway) which says ONLINE, READY, CABLE or DSL is on solid (not flashing), then plug in the router. If you have a gateway instead of a modem and router or a modem with no router, then when that light
says it's ready, skip step 6.

6) Wait until the WiFi light on the router is on; you may not use WiFi, but it's still a good indicator your router is finished booting up.

7) Turn on the Xbox. For more background on Ports, see

Sorry, but the extra content won't work without a connection to XBL. Just more cr*ppy copy protection schemes they inflict upon the innocent (a pirated version doesn't have this problem).

I've played the game with The Black Emporium on another Xbox and all I needed was my gamertag on a memory module.

Why doesn't she have XBL? No internet connection? Xbox just not connected (and doesn't want to run a cable to it)?
