So, we know of a few ways to eject a disk. There's the eject button itself, as long as it works you can eject any disc. There is the manual eject hole, where you can stick a straightened paperclip to eject the disc, marginally. And there is the more recent software option. Ejecting the disc from the the controller that will work as long as the disc can be read and recognized.

But what happens when your disc button is broke, you have no paperclips or anything that will fit in that hole, and your disc isn't being recognized/read and you can't eject the disc with your controller?

Then you are going to have to wait until you get paperclips, if your parents ever even get them. This is why there should be another option available in the system settings that will initiate the eject sequence regardless of if there is a disc inserted or not. This will allow you to eject any unreadable discs without potentially breaking the internals of the disc drive.

    What do you all think?

    :)

    Eject disc option ?

    "xbox eject"

[/quote]"Xbox, open tray" was a kinect 1 feature for 360 ,anytime you would wanna eject the disc , you would have to go to the console to change/remove disk anyway, so yeah just get up and press the eject button, at least until the feature to eject through
    the controller is added

Yes, this happened to me with my launch Xbox One. The rollers are wearing out and can’t grab a worn disc, so it fails to seat, and ends up in limbo. Eventually this will happen with all the discs

Nope, the drive is perfectly capable of ejecting. When inserting a disc in good condition, and the Xbox is capable of reading it, i can use the X button to eject it. But the eject button on the console doesn't do anything. Also this is an Xbox one S

If you press the eject button it will try to initiate an eject sequence regardless if it thinks there is a disc. This says to me that the eject mechanism itself is broken inside the drive and you’ll have to send it in for service.
