Hey guys, do your games ever get deleted after an update. I have multiple examples of me updating a game, Xbox telling me an “error” happened and then it proceeds to redownload the entirety of the game.

Example: Tuesday January 28th, 2025, I got on my Xbox at 10am est to update Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 for the new season. After the update was completed, it just stayed at 100% for 10 minutes not letting me play the game. I decided to restart my console to fix this issue, but when I turn my console back on the game was deleted and I had to redownload the entire game. This same thing happened when season 1 came out for Black Ops 6.

This is very frustrating because I went out of my way to have it downloaded so I could play. I have actually taken into consideration switching to the PlayStation so I know my games will stay on my console without being deleted. From my research Sony has no issues like that, and if they did I believe the would be more likely to fix then Microsoft.

    :)

    Xbox Deleting Your Games?

Hi Matthew, my name is Joel, I'm here to help you with any problems or questions you may have.

Matthew, this is something that usually happens when due to some network or synchronization problem one or more game files installed on the internal disk are corrupted, so the update cannot be completed and the system determines that a clean installation must be done. It occurs in all systems and all platforms since they are errors outside of Microsoft or any other platform.

i'm sorry but the DRM requires it, and if the game is corrupted then it has to be re-downloaded

You'll find the same situation on any other secure platform

Question About "Delete Profile and Items" Option

    Hi xCorRupT ExiLE,

The "Delete Profile and Items" option will delete the profile and all save games linked to that profile on that Xbox (not sure about DLC?). If you chose the "Delete Profile and Items" option on your friend's Xbox, only the save games on that Xbox would be
deleted. The save games on your Xbox, and any of his save games will not be deleted.

You should probably choose the "Delete Profile Only" option, so all your saves remain.
