Xbox default headset issues

I've been having this issue since the update preview, and am still having it now that the update is out. My default xbox one mono headset (that came with the console) is giving me this issue where no matter what I've tried my mic cant pick up my voice. I
can hear others in a party and in skype just fine, however my mic isnt picked up in any situation.

I really dont want to have to buy a new mic if that isnt the issue, and would like to know if this is a known bug or if theres anything else I can try to fix it. Please help D:

What's a good yet not horribly expensive headset for the Xbox?

The default stereo headset is pretty good IMO.

Comfortable, cheap, decently built. It's stereo but it should work with windows sonic as well which helps with audio quality.

 

Headset not working

What kind of headset is it? The default that comes with the Xbox or a third party headset?

 

This happens to me too, SOMETIMES (and I stress that, because it's less often that not) I can resync the controller and get it to work and SOMETIMES (same caveat) I can go to the kinect settings and toggle "use kinect for game chat" and get it to work. Otherwise
rebooting the console with the headset plugged into the controller always works.... such an annoyance and painful embarrassing for it being heir third console. I assume it's a bug but it's hard to search since you get so many stereo headset and 360 results.
